I've been wanting a solid entry level medieval arming sword for some time. I am really looking forward to knowing more about this one. Me, too. Looks like a legit offering in line with Hanwei's recent offerings (Cawood, St. Maurice, Albrecht) with furniture similar to VA's. Looking forward to the assessment of distal tapering and balance.

The sword has arrived today. Since it's quite late I will make a review tomorrow after proper testing and put it in a dedicated subforum. You will be informed about it in this thread too. P.S. I came home late from work and didn’t have time to do it today...

How much would shipping to the US cost? East coast, NC.
Just looking for a ballpark. I've never ordered from out of country. Customs, etc.

Thanks. Putting it somewhere around $450 with the tax, shipping, VAT, customs, sharpening, etc. In other words out of my reach.
It sucks to be poor.

I just did a test check out to see how much it would cost to get to NH, $367.98 for sword & sharpening, and $52.33 to ship it, for grand total of $420.31 so probably be about $450+ to get to NC.

Anybody like to gift a poor sword-starved LoE $420.31? Ten swords aren't enough. He needs more.

OTC, the former maker of Balaur Arms swords confirmed this sword is manufactured by them.

I came home late from work and didn’t have time to do it today... No hurry, bro. We have all been waiting for days, a couple days more wouldn't make any difference. The information we are all interested in (but not provided by the Vendor) includes the distal taper, if you can measure the thickness of the blade at the base, at the mid-point, at the termination of fuller, and at 2" from the tip it would be great, also the flexibility or rigidity of the blade. Type XII should be a bit more flexible than late medieval arming swords.

This also interests me too.
The stated blade width of 1 7/8" or 47.62mm isn't bad at all and the picture shows an actual Lenticular blade geometry instead if a mushy central ridge so this could be a nice budget Albion Knight looking beater or 1st Type XII arming sword to get feet wet in hobby.
Very curious to hear about how it handles and how sturdy it is. I hope the tip of the blade isn't paper thin/too sharply grinded either.

Looking forward to the review. If it's positive this can be a big winner filling that price range with a quality arming sword. I think Reliks can crush it with this product, and expand from there into a longsword with similar aesthetics. Also promising to hear that it's the former Balaur arms manufacturer. Now we just need to convince him to produce a Kriegsmesser for Reliks.

Hello Kane Shen,
from which source did you get the information that OTC is the maker of this sword? I did a google search and couldn't find anything about it. I suspect that the sword is made by DSA.

DSA has their own brand, they won’t make anything under an unnamed brand. The owner of OTC confirmed in a thread in SBG Facebook group.

It'll be interesting to get more specs on this one. I believe the BA line was generally designed by KoA and fulfilled by OTC. Will this one match the generally good specs (distal taper, balance, etc.)?
The price point of this one, a full $100 more than most BA models, implies to me that when OTC launches their new stuff, they won't be as inexpensive as BA, which was one of the primary selling points - very good quality at bargain prices.

The fit and finish seems a step above the old BA line. We are waiting for corpuscorax to give a review as he purchased the sword.

Yep, looking forward to the review. I agree that the fit and finish seems to be a step above, but that could also just be the pictures in the listing.
