Paypal just permanently limited my acc this morning out of nowhere citing me as a potential risk lol, all this after stopping a f/f payment I tried to send last weekend with currency unconverted to the UK, I called to ask why that transaction was on hold earlier in the week and they told me hold was removed but clearly not, Ive used paypal for a while to buy and sell swords mostly and buy stuff online, and a word of warning that using too much f/f payments can lead to acc getting deleted, I used to think it couldnt possibly happen lol. Anyways wondering what are some good alternatives to paypal for buying swords if they dont reopen my acc when I call them

usa, interested in both options, as i buy swords from pretty much everywhere i can Safest transactions as a seller are; Federal funds wire transfer or Zelle transfer. Federal funds wire is an "electronic cashiers check" that can not be sent without collected funds and once sent can not be clawed back. Zelle is a bank to bank transfer that can only be initiated with good funds in the senders account and can not be clawed back. Best methods as a buyer are PayPal and ACH wire transfer as they can be clawed back if things are not as represented when you open the box.

I despise paypal.
I've had Transferwise recommended to me a couple of times for international transfers, by people into collecting knives (expensive ones). It's a bank to bank transfer service that seems a lot cheaper than actually having your bank do the transfer directly.
For instance, sending from the UK, the fee is £0.80, + 0.35% for Euros, 0.4% for US$ and 0.45% for Au$. Also check currency conversion rates of course, but I'm told they are competitive on that too.
Note though that I've never actually needed to use Transferwise (the recommendation came too late, I had already done the transfer with my bank). A quick check shows that the company is authorised by the FCA in the UK, which is good. You would obviously need to check the regulations at your end regarding financial protection should the company screw up.
Obviously though there will be no buyer/seller protection, but you don't get that with f/f pp anyway.

Bundle of cash in an envelope? Give it a few days for them to sort it out. I had a transaction held at one point, contacted the seller who had no idea what was happening then contacted PayPal. Their algorithm had flagged it as potentially fraudulent for whatever reason, they fixed it up but it did take a couple of days.

transferwise.com/usI used this service before. Victor Berbekuz sword shop asks his customers to send money using Transfer Wise. I bought a messer from him directly and paid for it with this service. It's pretty good.

Thank you for the info and update.
I’m looking for alternatives as well.
PayPal has blocked a number of payments I have sent. It seems as though they targeted my transactions based on keywords in the description. Nations, historical ethnic or political groups, combat oriented activities, and weapons related words seem to lock things down immediately.
I have not noticed any difference between F&F and G&S. They have held or blocked both for me.
I’ll withhold my commentary, pursuant to the forum rules. I’m sorry you are having such trouble with PayPal. That is extremely frustrating.

According to Ron K, PayPal and Square banned TFW’s accounts for selling swords.
Per the rules, I’ll withhold my comments and opinion.

And everyone thought the discrimination against guns and gun owners was ok.. cuz it would never get to swords. The anti gun forces are putting swords in their cross hairs next. WAKE UP!

Forget my answer. I am practically not here anymore, just waiting / negotiating for how some sales turn out. Admins know why.

I have used paypal for years for routine little stuff, mostly ebay. They cut me off before xmas. they will only reset account thru my US cell phone which is out of range, m/l for the duration of the pandemic.3 trips thru online chat and 2 thru phone and they just keep putting me in the circle jerk that I need my US phone to receive a reset code. Unknown if they are blocking me for my country of residence and just not saying it. US/EU/OAS sanctions only apply to named government officials, not a piss-ant retiree.
Just a heads up to anyone--have a US phone available wherever you go. Paypal will not register a foreign phone. I will look into magic jack next time I am in the US.

This is why I am moving to Zelle...or federal funds wires...both are simple and efficient irreversible transfers of money...no politics/discrimination.

Has anybody tried using Google Pay? I've used Zelle in the past to pay people, but twice a friend has tried to pay me through it and both times the money was taken from his account, never showed up in mine, and a month later refunded to his account, so I'm not particularly keen on using it. Paypal is getting very weird on my transactions now. Somebody is trying to buy one of my swords, paid via F&F and put "Ryujin, <username>" in the description, and Paypal is putting a hold on the payment, asking the buyer for Ryujin's birthdate.

Not used google pay so can’t help you there. Almost all my clients use zelle now to pay me and the only hiccup was when I first set it up the initial payment took three days. Since then it’s been practically instantaneous. One of my clients has reached a daily limit and had to wait. Call your financial institution and have him call his to see what’s the deal. Good luck.
