With all the violent elements in the US turning legit peaceful protests into violent riots and looting spree's, have you prepped your home/ business defense kit? What does it look like? Why did you choose the gear you did? I have a BLM protest scheduled in my city today. Im hoping and have every reason to believe it be peaceful / non violent. Met a few young black kids in my local Starbucks...they were all polite young college kids. Hoping no one gets hurt but also hoping that if it gets violent the police act with decisive and overwhelming force. Better to be prepared and not need it than need it and not have it. It was a good exercise I have not done in a while. Here is mine...It took a bit of thought to decide what to bring out of the safes and prep. Armalite M4 carbine (registered Roberti-Roos AW) with five 30 rnd mags loaded to 28 rnds WW2 Inland M1 Carbine with five 15 rnd mags loaded to 15 rounds SiG P226 mk25 with two 20 rnd mags and four 15 rnd mags loaded to capacity Eagle Industries CIRAS Marine carrier with Kevlar IIIa soft armor and military issue Ceradyne level IV light weight rifle plates USGI battle belt with three pistol mag pouches, gunshot trauma First Aid kit and Safariland tactical holster

Where's your sword?! I just live out of town. My guns are pretty much all hunting rifles and shotguns, although I did just inherit a bunch of guns from my father in law that will eventually go to all the grandkids. Besides a bunch more hunting rifles and shotguns, he had an old 7.62X39 with 2 sealed cases of ammo and a drum magazine, and a bunch of handguns. The only intruders I seem to get are an occasional coyote looking for chickens.

A blade on your carrier is a good idea due to jam or stopping someone from grabbing (or making them let go of) your gun in a close range scuffle before you can access. Pretty hard to rely on police only in light of current events and gun control advocates just had (or should have had) a big setback. If it comes to it Daniel Defense AR (or Colts) for home/buildings and HK VP9/.40, Glock 22, Walther Q5 on belt in vehicle/on foot. I think revolver (maybe shotgun) in none emergency situations. Sadly, I don't currently have body armor.

I have a combined +/- 50,000 rounds between the two VP9's I shoot without a single malfunction. It should be said that I only shoot American made factory new ammo.

Home defense kits are mostly just excuses to buy toys. What I think matters is the gun you actually carry in public and how good you are with it. Also tourniquets and gauze.
But if you're going to invest in all that, might I suggest a go pro camera and your lawyer's business card.

I could tell you but then I’d have to kill you. 😎. An SKS- d or m. Never have really research it to figure out which. My understanding is it’s just the designation for when it was imported. Mossberg 590. Bought in late 80s or very early 90s. So blued not parkerised, 6 rd side saddle, Knox stock with 5rd Power pack (basically another sidesaddle). Beretta 92F. Again bought late 80s early 90s, right after they got the US military contract and before they built their US factory. So made in Italy. That’s all my guns. Lots of mags and ammo but the less said about that the better.

Got very good deals ($500 for the 9mm & $450 on the .40) a year and a half ago from Sportsman's Warehouse. I need more ammo..

Seriously, an AR, body armor, pistol with belt is pretty good for all.

How does the VP compare 9mm to .40? You can never have enough. Last inventory I did, between my primary residence and a couple other homes i own, I have almost 44k rounds in my primary calibers (9mm/.45ACP/5.56NATO/ 7.62NATO/ 12 ga.). I got rid of all my .40's weapons and ammo back in 2008 during the big Obama gun run... actually made money on them all too.

I too own a Mossberg 590... got it when they first came out and it was parkerized. I own a Russian SKS made in the mid 1950's. I got it when they were all the rage and wanted one with a milled receiver. You can never go wrong with a Beretta 92 in any configuration! Im not sure if there is any real difference between the USA made and Italy made guns... maybe you can enlighten me...

I'm up in Seattle, so better than Cali but maybe not for long unless current events change the trend. VP40 was built from the ground up with the heavier slide, so a fantastic shooter with the right ammo, and a good gun out of home because .40 rounds work real well in a world of car doors, body panels, auto glass and other barriers.

Used to favor lighter, higher velocity .40 ammo (135, 155gr.) but now use 180gr. (sometimes 165gr) for barrier performance. HST (165, 180gr.) is my current fave.

Im not sure if there is any real difference between the USA made and Italy made guns... maybe you can enlighten me... My SKS is one that accepts AK mags hence the d or m designation. I thought they meant detachable or magazine but from what I have read those indicate when it was imported into the states I don’t think there is any difference in how they are made or function in a Beretta made in Italy or US. I think it’s just that it was made in the home country. Every time I have taken it to a gun show (to find holster or make sure mags fit, etc) the cop at the entrance zip tying guns takes a look at it and asks if I’m selling it. Every time, every cop. They want first shot at it so to speak. So I think it’s just valued more than a US made one. Didn’t know the 590 came parkerized when they first came out. Bought mine at a gun store and they only had blued. Didn’t see any parkerized versions until a few years later at gun shows.

I had a Norinco SKS-M. It took AK mags and had a shorter 16" barrel. They are indeed sought after.

From my research it’s considered the paratrooper model. I put a folding nylon stock on it but want to change it to a collapsible tactical stock. Also put a threaded(I threaded the barrel) compensator/flash suppressor on it and a rear peepsite modified to a ghost ring site. Last gun show I was at I saw they were going for about $600 or so. Used to have a Norinco 20” barrel that I had scoped up, shell deflector, comp/flash suppressor, Dragonov stock but sold it during the recession.

My stuff pretty much looks like yours. A pistol belt (battle belt) with some mags, a knife, and a trauma kit.
Glock 19, Gen 4, if anyone was wondering.
I have an AR rifle staged with some level III body armor with more mags on the carrier.
There are other various rifles, pistols, and shotguns around the house. I'm much more a "gun guy" than a "sword guy."
Aside from all that I have my duty belt, but the irony is that I would 100% grab my personally bought stuff first, lol.

Break into my home and find out. The best defense is not letting anybody know what expect.
