Thinking of getting one of these. The FNX-45 is just a bit too expensive and this fits better in my paws. Colt Combat Commander .45 ACP.

Bought a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 LW/RO CHAMP 45ACP yesterday. This was actually hard to find and the one I bought was the last one Smoky Mountain Guns & Ammo had in stock. Was going to pick up something else but Virginia passed a new laws where you can only purchase 1-handgun a month. No limit on rifles though. Interesting as I was searching for a couple days seeing what was in stock at the several places I normally look at and there is almost nothing in stock. Gun Broker has plenty of folks jacking up prices as well.

I am going to do my annual pilgrimage to the Phoenix SAR gun show next weekend. I have been going every year for 15 years. A nice quiet solo road trip. It will be interesting to see what is there and how much. I can t buy any guns as I am a resident of California but its a fun trip.

I have sold some of my semiauto rifles on Gun Broker. They are all selling for a profit. Debating if I should just go ahead and sell my remaining AKs, ARs, and SKS rifles, magazines, and ammo and be done with it. Tired of my county and state trying to pass a ban and not to mention upcoming possible federal laws. If the promised laws pass, about 2/3rds of my semiauto pistol standard issue magazines will be illegal......What a mess for a firearms collector these days.

Sadly, the voters are getting what they voted for...I suspect that unless they spend the money to buy your stuff from you, there will be grandfathering. Under the 5th amendment they cant just ban and take it all if it was legal to buy and own when you bought it. Living through the evolution of gun control here in California, I would advise you to not sell. You might not be able to ever buy them back. I recommend you either buy a "boat" or find a friend with a back hoe...

Thousand dollar bullets, only one shot bolt guns being legal, sue gun companies, can't have firearms loaded and in same safe with ammo, etc...whatever the fever dream a clever lawyer can conjure up.

Little late to the party but I got a 9mm Glock G45. I love that gun, has almost no kick and accurate as hell.

People, we still have that rule against discussing politics. Cut it out. Fair enough, but FWIW, I doubt you will have very many Americans who are offended and whining/complaining to you about it, except maybe those members who have their "Zen" on... One should not forget that those who want to restrict legal ownership of firearms, once they achieve their goal , usually turn their attention to swords. Or like in the UK... they'll start legislating the kind, length, and serrated edges on your kitchen knives.

In the Western democracies, the people get what they deserve in so much as they typically get what they vote for, good and bad. We are seeing that here in America every day. Personally I did not buy any guns in 2021 and in fact am trying to lighten up. I have far too many, including many duplicates. I find myself shooting just a few that I like and shoot well. The rest...well I was collecting and its time to thin the herd.

A glock43 with the very first stimulus that was issued (thank you uncle sam), and a mossberg patriot predator .308 bolt action on black friday last year.

Yes they do, unfortunately a lot of times the "minority" voter suffers at the whims of the victorious party ie., democratically ran metropolitan areas. I don't own "a lot" of guns and the ones I do buy are of the main calibers (.22lr, 9mm, .40, .38, 5.56, and .308) you can or would expect to be able to find, whether that's on a store shelf or scavenging if you had to. And those I do own all serve 1 of 2 purposes, self-defense and/or hunting. I have thought about building a .300AAC as a bugout/truck gun but the scarcity of the ammo has kept me from doing so.

I don’t know if I commented on this but I’ll bite. Diamondback DB-15 rifle with free float M-Lok handguard, MOE grip, and modified with a CTR stock, Magpul AFG, and a SIG Red Dot. Also a Glock 19 Gen 5 with a Crimson Trace Rail Master Cat Toy, err, laser. Also a couple thousand rounds of South Korean .223 and a thousand rounds of Magtech 9mm.

You are a new SBG member so I will warn you to be cautious about drifting into any political discussion. This forum is not friendly to conservative views for the most part. I am surprised a firearms sub forum is even tolerated. I have gotten rid of any unusual calibers. I am all in for 9mm/45acp, 5.56/7.62 NATO, .44 mag/special, .357/.38 special and 22LR. Being in CA I also have several m1 carbines as they are semi auto's without any banned features so....30 carbine as well. I used to have .40 but sold the guns and ammo in the 2008 Obama run on guns and ammo. I think the .40 is a law enforcement round; a compromise between the mag capacity of the 9mm and the "throw weight" of the .45acp. I think that if you are shooting FMJ, then .45 is better than .40 and .40 is better than 9mm. With modern bullet design (Federal HST/Win. SXT/Ranger), the terminal differences are far smaller and the marginal performance improvement of .40 and .45 over 9mm are not enough to negate the benefit of magazine capacity and controllability of the 9mm..IN MY OPINION, but to each their own.

I’d rather have a handful of guns I can actually use and lots of ammo than an entire armory without any ammo.

I totally agree with your last statement about the 9mm, my ccw gun of choice is a G43 loaded with federal premium HST 147gr.

Lord Newport is correct, there is a rule about avoiding Politics and Religion under Member Responsibilities:
8. No discussion of religion or politics on the forum in any section
That said, the moderation team is aware I have a background in firearms operations and working with defense contractors, but have shown no bias against me. I'm still here along with these sub-forums. We have had many firearms related threads that didn't run afoul of the forum rules, so I think we can still discuss the hobby as long as we are mindful not to stray down tangental paths, just as we do when discussing the sword hobby.
I have not personally purchased any firearms since our current situation came about, but I have acquired an airsoft replica designed to have heavy blowback to simulate the recoil experience of its real-world counterpart. This lets me maintain the skillset without going to a range and doesn't deplete my ammunition. It is accurate enough that I can use my EDC holsters with no issue. Heavy as the real thing, too.

I have a bunch of airsoft guns too, because real guns are expensive and if I just want a replica from a video game or movie I like I’ll just get an airsoft one. Recently got an AK47 Type 3 airsoft gun too, to stand in for a Type 56 for a 1990s mercenary in Africa inspired airsoft kit. I don’t have any professional training airsoft guns though. The closest would be a beretta M9 and Colt Combat Commander has blowback airsoft pistol.
