I can’t remember as I don’t have that problem but it has come up before and the answer is in one of the older threads. As well as I remember there are programs to do reduce the size obtainable via Internet, just can’t remember the names. Then there are sites that a photo can be put such as Photobucket and then linked to your post.

Your computer likely has a program you can use to resize images. But there are also free applications online that you can use. One that I use is called LunaPic. You can find it here: www8.lunapic.com/editor/. Click on the 'Upload' option and open your image file. Then under the 'Edit' menu choose 'Scale Image'. You can set the size to whatever you want. I find that a width of 800 works well for Internet images. The height will be automatically adjusted for you. If it looks okay click the 'Apply Scaling' button. Then you can click on the 'File' option and 'Save Image' to download a copy of the updated image.

Another that I use on my Windows machine. It works seamlessly or to your customized preferences. It lives on your desktop and even creates a folder with modified images www.onthegosoft.com/shrink_pic.htmI use imgur a lot for forums and worth registering with. It is east to post either individual photos or a dedicated album you have created.

I'm blessed with a copy of Photoshop, which has a "Save for web" interactive reduction option, but you can use Paint, which ships free as a Windows accessory, to reduce the image size as well.

If all else fails, you can also email yourself the photo(s). Your email program will offer to reduce the image size by file size.

If you're on a cell phone (or computer too I guess) there is this cool free app called LitPhoto that I use for posting pics here.

I assumed that you had the photos on hand. FWIW when taking a photo I set my camera for email and the photos turn out using about 100 KB, some down to maybe <60 and rarely as much as 140. The upload time is also faster and I find the quality sufficient for the forum.

Pgandy I take the shots with my Digi-CAm, pop out chip, Insert into USB Adapter, put in USB port/Laptop PC- and go from there: thats really the best way I have available at the present time.

My camera gives a choice of five settings for the type of photo it will produce. I am not a shutter bug and stumbled onto this setting and have used it ever since for all photos. I say all but the truth of the matter the forum is about the only reason I have for a photo. The camera is a Canon A1300 and is my second of this type. The LED screen on the first went out after several years and by that time this model was discontinued but I found a used one on the Internet to replace it.

My smartphone camera hasn't such a mode too. I take pictures with ca. 7 MB and use programs or apps to cut, reduce size and enhance the picture.
