All I would want is 'Amazing Grace' on bagpipes---followed by 'Highway to Hell' played at eardrum busting level. Here you go...

Ok Christian, I’ve got to add ‘Highway to Hell’ to my funeral playlist. It’s amazing how many covers of that song there are.

I would want an up-tempo, mariachi cover of Kansas's Dust in the Wind Yes! with Scarlet Johanssen shaking some maracas of course.

I don’t know why because I won’t hear it but when I check out I’d like a New Orleans style funeral. I love jazz of all types and was raised in the South. The two songs I’d like played are “Down by the Riverside” and “When the Saints Go Marching In”. For those not familiar with a New Orleans funeral here’s Fats Domino’s funeral. I didn’t realize he had died until just now. Can’t say it’s typical of a funeral but then it’s Fat’s. It’s all there but on a far grander scale than typical.

Pgandy, New Orleans funerals are the best. Haven’t been to one but have seen on tv. Love the way they start out slow and kind of sad then go into an upbeat and joyous song. Just the way it should be.

Funeral for a Friend by Elton John. It's the instrumental part that leads to "Love Lies Bleeding in my hand "

When he was dying of cancer my young cousin asked them to play Faith No More's "From Out Of Nowhere" at his funeral.
...sooooooooo of course they played the instrumental cover by the cello quartet Apocalyptica instead of the original.
When you make your requests, be very specific! Otherwise your mourners might end up having to listen to Michael Bublé or something. *shudder*

I want live music. A DJ with a speaker won't cut it. I guess that I best state that.

Thanks, Scott----But I'm not exactly ready to go just yet. Next time I feel a case of death coming up, I'll PM you. It was more so you could be prepared. You wouldn't want the wrong version played at your funeral.

Personally, I don't want anyone to come to whatever serves as my funeral. I'm thinking I'll get torched. I'm not even interested in an obituary. So I'm certainly not interested in a funeral derge.
Why put any surviving folk through this " traditional " nonsense ? Have them donate some $$$ to something, or their time, or at most -- if ya really really " remember " me and wanna toast that memory ?
Raise a glass of whatever you like to drink most and spend a scant second and as few words as possible :
" Here's to you, Matt. Hope there's something on the other side. "

"I rather agree, just a good excuse for a party, can't have enough of those. Taking up valuable space with cemeteries while putting our bodies in expensive boxes in the Earth while the nutrients can't even enrich the soil. Feed the pigs, Deadwood style.
