Not an actual plan but sometimes I'm thinking of a body armor made of usual household stuff. Tupperware lamellar. Epoxy and duct tape on thick wool pullovers or a few layers of thin shirts, a bit like a linothorax. Enhanced bicycle helmet with Chinese helmet like neck protection. etc. And perhaps wrapping a whole spearshaft with grip band.

That does make me curious about the effectiveness of steel-belted vulcanized rubber as a basis for an armor suit.

Here, perhaps a question of weight?

Create the perfect cut and thrust sword, suited for all fighting situations with a blade heavy enough to deal debilitating cuts through a wool coat, but light enough to use for hours on end without significant fatigue and nimble enough to manipulate the point with the palm and fingers. Once your prototype is perfected, please put ‘em into production! If I ever did achieve this, I don't think it would do well in the market.

My fiancee teaches blind kids, and I'm into swords. These two fields can cross over...
Basically, I want to modify singlesticks so that visually impaired people can train with them and spar against each other.
My thought was I could install an accelerometer to detect movement, and a speaker near the centre of percussion to play a "swooshing" noise. That way, VI people could play at singlestick by hearing where the stick is coming from.
Now I just need to learn all the skills needed to make these...

I would eventually like to make a suit of fantasy dragon scale armor from guitar picks. Never found them in a suitable lot in the correct colors I'd need. Drill holes and stitch to a garment leather jerkin. Quick and easy project that would turn a lot of heads at a Renfair.

That's where my idea started, watching a dude make a prop lightsaber on a channel called "I like to make stuff". That got my old thinker ticking

Some leather scale armor would be cool. I've found that laminating the leather I have into three pieces glued together with Super-Glue makes for something as good or better than Kevlar. I think it would probably bounce a 9.mm slug. Might hurt like hell, but you'd be alive.

This Springs Project. Okay, not that big but big enough to walking. Before you laugh, I already have the molds for the columns and have done other concrete work. That’s pretty cool Gunnar. What’s the dimensions going to be? About 10x20 ft for floor and about 12-15 ft high?

Still working on that. The columns measurements are 11 1/2 inches in diameter and 16 inches high for each cast. I just have to decide how much of my yard I want to dedicate to it. But your guess is pretty close, I need to cast some of the base of the columns and lay them out on the ground to be sure. If we get enough snow I may even cast some in snow to get a better idea of the layout.

I was thinking this 5 foot Poseidon statue in a fountain out front so I wouldn't want it to dwarf the building.

I feel like it would be a missed opportunity if you didn't.

Well in 860 Bjorn Ironside did consider raiding Rome. Maybe it's time to fulfill the quest, I think I'll find less opposition here. Just Poseidon and he's gotten a little stiff in his old age.

My next project (once I finish ALL MY OTHER PROJECTS) is going to be to build a throne. I have all the tools and material at my job, and my boss would let me do it after-hours and at the cost of material. I'm thinking of using 4x4 posts as the legs, with the rest being made from 2x4 and 1x4 Cedar wood. The back of the throne will be shaped like a church window...high and domed on top. The center of the back boards will have a cut-out of a Fleur-de-Lis in it. No upholstery on the seat...just a big, fancy pillow. I'm estimating a total cost of about $150. My wife is the Queen B of all the B's that have ever even tried to be Queen B's------so she needs a throne. --- ---
