Shobutengu is correct. People that guess and comment (as if fact) about things they don't know/own/use are a problem. That is pretty much all the kid does. I’m making an educated guess off what I have seen, do not put me down for that.

That is pretty much all the kid does. LMAO...Nailed it. Laugh it up. At the end of the day none of you are any better than I am. At least I am friendly and try to help newcomers. It is people like you that cause these forums to die and tons of people will stick by that answer. Your all knowing attitude won’t draw people to this forum and it is actually driving people away. People want to leave this because of people like you. Maybe start acting more caring and treat people with respect and get down off your self righteous pedestals for once. You may be surprised that people will like you more once you drop your view of yourself.

That is pretty much all the kid does. I forgot your so experienced No, I’m not. That’s the point. I have never recommended any sword or metal type or much of anything because I don’t know enough about them personally to do so. The few things I have recommended that I knew a little about I gave credit to either the person I read it from or this forum in general. The one thing I have recommended strongly is a product to oil swords with. That is because I have over 25 years experience with it on my guns and I gave credit to a friend of mine that is a gun smith for telling me about it.

I don’t think people come on here for “educated guesses”. I think they want facts and opinions of forum members that have actual experience with what they want to know.

You may be surprised that people will like you more once you drop your view of yourself. No one is claiming to be better than you. And I don’t think LordNewport is coming off as “all knowing”. If you have read some of his posts he seems to be very experienced, with actual knowledge. People are drawn to this forum to get actual knowledge from experienced people. As far as driving people away, you are the only person that has come close to driving me away, I can’t speak for others. As far as being liked, I don’t come here to be liked (it’s nice if it happens), I come here to learn. When I participate in non sword related threads I guess I’m here to socialize and be entertained. Now if you really want to get into it with me we can start a thread about it and let this thread get back to the op’s question.

Not your fault Mustafa. You came here to gain some knowledge about what a lot if not all of us would consider a higher end sword. And then someone with no actual experience jumped in parroting what he’s read from other people and misinforming you on steel type. A lot of us are just tired of it. He’s been chastised on other threads but doesn’t seem to learn or care. Please don’t let this one incident scare you away from this forum. There are a lot of VERY knowledgeable people on here. And funny people. In general it’s a great place to learn and sometimes be entertained. Oh, and if whatever sword you do get come on here and give us your opinion. And pictures. Lots of pictures. We love sword porn!🙂

Say what you will, I think the market and overall interest is dying because of insular and uptight it is here. I feel like I’m putting a target on my back just for speaking honestly about this, for example.

Don’t worry about it . It’s not your fault . A lot of wannabe experts in this forum and there is only a handful of people I trust with their opinions and facts.

I still am aiming for a good katana, and one last question, is the Motohara katana made of L6 Banitite or just L6 steel? I looked at some other reviews and its generally just mixed info. Im thinking their is a option of L6 banitite and L6 steel is just the 'default'? I am kinda getting confused, so I came here, again. I just hope someone doesnt take this question off topic. Thanks in advance!

Motohara says L6 and not L6 Bainite. L6 is a tough nickel alloy steel. The "magic thing" is the special heat treatment to get the bainite microstructure in the L6 steel. They would promote it. That doesn't mean a blade of "normal" L6 is bad.

Thanks in advance! Motohara L6 is just Differentially Hardened L6. EB Motohara has never claimed L6 bainite, or advertise as such. Don't get hung up on the steel types. If you seriously intend to order a sword from EB, just tell them what your requirements are. They will ask you a bunch of questions, including what ryuha you train in, what target(s) you cut, how often, and other things to determine the best option(s) for your needs.

Indeed lol. I think after I get the L6 Motohara ill save up for a cottontail custom katana, after that mabye a used citadel or bugei. I think that sounds like a sweet collection You might look over this seller's nihonto selection, many (like this one) are sufficiently used to be acceptable for cutting:
or a blade a bit cheaper, but older and better, in shirasaya, that you could assemble koshirae for:
With these, you know the tamahagane is real.
