Again, I don’t know how to do links. Search ‘cut down swords’ on eBay and right now there are two. One civil war and one German. The German one looks better. I stumbled across one of these by accident. I didn’t know these existed. Don’t really care for sabres but these look pretty cool. Will have to do a google search. Kind of wondering if edelweiss, Jordan or others have seen these. I’m sure you guys have.

Thanks edelweiss. Man those look good. I admit I like the ones with the backstrap best. The only thing I ever saw close to this with Sabres is the tv show ‘Branded’ when I was a little kid. Damn! Now I have a whole new field of study to spend money on. Oh well. 🤨

Thanks again edelweiss! Haven’t seen that in mega years. I was 8-9 when that show played. Damn, brought back some good memories.

I am a 1954 model myself and remember the old days. lmgtfy.com/?q=copy+and+paste+a+link+using+your+phoneI don't use a smart phone but those search links may help your sharing. I'll probably be just using my flip phone as a phone until I lose it. I don't even text on it. Cheers GC

I’m a pre war model myself and remember that movie well. I questioned the sword at the time. Now I question the one that proofed it. Even my repros would hold up better than that, I think. I am certainly not going to try it fearing that I’ll get the short end of the action.

Yeah I guess that was a bad tempering job on that sword. Of course if the sword had just bent wouldn’t have been the same effect. It’s tv, you have to suspend disbelief sometimes.

I have the computer skills of a four year old, and that’s an insult to four year olds worldwide. Yeah, all I have is an iPhone. My computer sh*t the bed a few years ago and haven’t replaced it. I mean it’s buy a computer, sword/knives or beer. The computer hasn’t won yet. The other two are about tied. 😏

A telephone is of small importance to me yet I see people, not just kids, addicted to those things, on the bus, waiting for the bus, just waiting in general, walking down the street, etc. Occasionally I see someone having an accident that is captured on a camera while using a phone. It’s easy enough to believe someone not paying attention and getting hit by an auto which I’ve seen, but believe it or not I saw someone walk into a moving train while using one, and another fell down an elevator shift. My current cellular phone bill is less than 1 USD/3 months, to give an idea of my usage.

My iPhone is my computer, just doesn’t do as well on some things as a real computer. As far as being glued to it like the people you describe, absolutely not. I don’t ever text while driving and rarely talk when I’m driving. The next step in human evolution is going to be ‘ text neck’.

It doesn't make any sense to condemn smartphones while praising a desktop or laptop.

Can't comment on SBG while in a doctors waiting room with one either. It's not like I comment on SBG while I'm crossing streets lol. Those people are just nominees of Darwin awards at best

At least that is the way I took it.

One of the many reason I haven’t been motivated to get a computer is then I would have to post some pictures of my Cheap ass swords(most of them are) and then you guys would laugh at me. 🤣🤨😏 Yes I know you can do it with a smart phone, but that is one of the things that is so much easier with a laptop or desktop.

Yes the thread was about sword but when you search for ‘cut down swords’ bayonets come up too. Anyway we’re all good.

In addendum, if you can see the keyboard on your phone, it will usually show copy/cut and paste options, just like a pc.
We have gone way off base here but I am typing this one handed on a full size old school keyboard bedside (disabled and not terribly mobile). Doing so through a refurb chromebook at arms length while also watching a streaming movie on a 24" flat screen, also at arms length.
Another old refurb chromebook in the kitchen (both of these outdated) and a Windows 10 desktop at my desk with a 32" flatscreen (that I honestly don't use much except when watching out the window when waiting for someone and doing some office type work).
I am not knocking mobile use for those using phones and I can appreciate the learning curves. Humorously, to me, are recent parties of friends and family where most are using their phones, multitasking.
Folk can zoom on their phones but sometimes details of an overall can be tough on the eyes. I'm bound to get one of the usb microscopic cameras for a better macro look but my cameras are pretty good. My 4x reading glasses are good for a lot of close work (watches, etc).
Anyway...........cut down swords as fighting knives. The Patton sword knives were abundant, as shown in the above links and other older foot officer swords a common enough find. As mentioned, varieties range from the obscure and unidentifiable to clearly marked US Civil War swords. Bayonets to knives as well. While not just a US thing, it does seem like there had been a lot of them out there. Theater knives as well, another genre some collect.
I've only spent about $125 on books this year but that much money is more than enough for a refurb Windows laptop or chromebook.
Cheers GC
