Well, after several years of searching for nice, affordable sabatons...along came these beauties. Made by 'House of Warfare' and sold by Medieval Collectibles in 16ga. steel, these things are fantastic...even just to display. * I have no connection to House of Warfare OR Medieval Collectibles. I'm just a satisfied paying customer. *They arrived very well packaged in bubble-wrap from MC's and in very good time. They had a thin coat of oil that was easy to wipe off. Don't really know why I bothered...I'm just gonna put more on. So...now on with the eye candy. I've shown them on a pair of size 9 combat boots. They fit perfectly. They are listed as 12'' long, but actually more like 10''---just the steel parts...but 12'' around the curve from heel to point. The articulation is smooth and well riveted, and the strapping is nice and thick. The buckle is kinda plain, but I guess you could add fancier ones. The leather lacing through leather tabs at the top and the lacing on the toes make these super-versatile. The lacing at the top goes right into the eyelets of my boots. Haven't really figured out what I want to do with the toe lacing, but I'll figure it out. So---there you have it. These fit my 8-1/2 to 9 boots wonderfully, but could easily go up to probably a 12 or 14. If you've always wanted sabatons but were afraid of them being ridiculously long, look no further. If all 'House of Warfare' armor is this good, I will be buying more! Strap 'em on your Nike's and 'Just DO IT'. Hope you enjoyed..........

I just realized they fit over work boots. That's just some solid protection right there

Yeah man! They look great right out of the box! My HoW bucket arrives tomorrow, so I’ll be able to review how they cover the other end

I tell ya, if your helmet is half as good as these sabatons, you're gonna love it! Those combat boots are *probably not* the boots I will wear under them...just the first pair I grabbed.

I have a pair of 'chukka'-style boots with a low heel and solid round toe, lace-up, and almost that same color brown that I will probably make into a 'dedicated' pair just for the sabatons. I don't really want a tall-shafted boot, because it would probably interfere with greaves and padding. I added a leather same-colored flap to the top of the chukka's and rerouted the laces to tie on the outer sides to make them look more 'Medieval-ish'. With some good inserts, they are really comfy....which at a Ren-Fest is a must-have.

How are they for weight? (They're about twice as thick as the historical average (which is 0.7mm).)

I don't have anything but digital bathroom scales, and for the pair it shows almost 5 pounds. These are 16ga. and densely packed and stacked steel, so, yes---they are weighty. Don't trust my scales though. I've tried them on with everything from heavy combat boots to house slippers, and they don't really feel that heavy at all. No more so than wearing a heavy work boot with a steel toe. "Renaissance Redwing's".....that's what I'll call 'em. .............

I recently got a pair of Mytholon-brand 'Jost' greaves from Medieval Collectibles to compliment the sabatons. For being made by two different manufacturers, they fit together like they were custom-made. If I sound like I'm bragging...I AM! I actually put them all on last night and RAN around my house. No prob. --------- They look great together. Do they shift at all when moving? Or they hard to notice? Honestly, sounds like something I would do 😂 running around in full armour

The padding is also from Mytholon/Medieval Collectibles and is the 'Leopold' padded greaves. They have a padded lip on the bottom that fits perfectly into the outward lip on the bottom of the steel greaves. The lip on the pads also fits under the upper of the sabatons. It's as comfortable as running around in a pair of old sneakers. (If they were made of 16ga. steel, that is. )

The photos you posted about an hour ago reminds me of the tin man. I find those padded greaves with the lip at the bottom most helpful. Mine are by Arthur and have such a lip. My steel greaves tend to slide down causing a discomfort to the top of my foot but not so when wearing those padded greaves w/lip. I find that lip very important.

Mytholon also makes them in suede leather. The only down-side is they are poly-fill instead of wool padding, and they are hot in warm weather. The lip on the bottom is great---makes wearing the armor so much better all the way around. The 'Leopold' padded arm bracers are great too. Extra-long and covers my elbows. 'Tin-Man', eh?--- Well, I won't be wearing a funnel on my head anytime soon. Pretty close, but I'm not drilling a hole in the top of one of my nasal helmets!
