Great review Dave! Like quite a few others, I'm pleasantly surprised how well it did and I'm really glad to see the tang looks good and the scabbard is so well built! The weight is a little more than I personally would like on a one hander, but the pob probably negates that...it's definitely given me some something to think about!

Thanks for taking the time to test/review this. Excellently done review, always fun to read your very well written reviews. Little bummed on the testing though. Would have been nice to see more rigorous cutting and impact tests. But who am I to talk, I never even bothered to add pictures to some of my reviews

Thanks, yea the weight isnt too bad and the low PoB does make it more maneuverable. It is two handed though, the grip with pommel is 9" so plenty of room for two hand with space between and the grip itself is 6" so pretty average for a bastard type sword.

Could've smacked the helmet a few more times but I figured three good strikes was a good enough test without abusing the blade. Theres always another day of course for a cutting video and new targets! Thanks, pgandy! Glad you liked it!

Yeah, I should have said it better, but your review made it clear it's a true 2-hander for me considering the weight. The POB shows it would be a nimble 2-hander though, so it's worth looking at. That was the biggest surprise from the whole thing, I assumed this was a 1-hander from the stock photos but it turned out to be a whole honkin' 2-hander!

Just got that UC Honshu Boshin straight "Ninja" sword - repacked it and sent right back away! * blade angles quite strong to the left; see pics * grip itself shows a slight banana form * the whole thing rattles like a rattlesnake * big gap between the grip rubber and the guard can't wait for the "Broadsword" to arrive... Honestly, guys, i WISH you could have handled that piece of crap yourselves. It really seems Germany IS the sword scrapyard of the world where every manufacturer is unloading his factory second stuff...

Just checked my Boshin kat, straight, no gaps. ... and I hoped so I'd have a bananakatana...

I'm starting to wonder if resellers there do get factory seconds. Thankfully, you've got all those friendly neighborhood smiths who can make you the good stuff

Yea it seems you really have $#!+ for luck when it comes to swords. That's why I always keep "fit and finish may be hit or miss due to the price point " as a con on my reviews of production swords. You just never know and I guess I've been prettt lucky with my swords I've received over the years (knock on wood, lol)! You know thinking on your bananna tang, as I mentioned in my review (pic in the review) mine too had a slight curve to the flat of the tang. Mine isnt as pronounced as yours but its there. Perhaps this is something the forge needs to address regarding the tempering of their tangs?

Damn Darth, your luck with swords is like my luck with, well, everything else. Hope the broadsword is good. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the review. This was a pleasant surprise. I'll probably be getting one of these in the near future to take out back and hack some stuff when my 'anti-stress squishy balls' don't do the trick. Like others mentioned...the grip is cool and all...but it's screaming for some leather wrap. I may even make a new one from wood. Thanks again....Just what I need...Someone else convincing me to buy yet another sword that I don't need...Just to say I have one.

Thanks, feels better too as I shaped it more to my size circumference at the gaurd is about 3 3/4" with the grip tapering to 3 1/2" to sit flush with the pommel. Wasn't a bad experience either, having the proper tools helped a lot. Would've had it done last night but the belt on the sander busted and I didn't have a spare. Waiting for the glue to cure right now and then I'll resemble it and let you guys see how it looks.

Would be sick, Imo, if you were to add a spiral shaping to the wooden grip or segmented carving in some way. Yes it would if I trusted my skill set, lol. But that's what risers are for right? Went simple with this one though, maybe in the future I try something more intricate.
