It's hard to believe that our brave GIs stormed the beaches in these things, but who am I to judge? The greatest generation indeed.

As Christain would say “Aaaannd...once again, we are offered a helmet with no measurements.”.
To fit most heads and accept whatever liner doesn’t cut it for me. I wear a size 57 hat and I don’t know how many hats I’ve passed up due to size M. I do accept a size range in a helmet but insist on knowing the range beforehand.
Thinking on this the thought came to me that these are probably handmade and have variations within a size so it may be hard for MRL state a size accurately. Just a thought. I ordered a size M coif from MRL and got lost in it. I must say that they were easy to get along with telling me to keep it and giving a full refund for my US expenses.

I would be more concerned with the rivets coming loose than the size of the helmet. I've had some bad experiences with Windlass/MRL leather products and the rivets being total crap. They may have changed for the better though....

Don’t feel pregnant, that’s why I have an assortment of rivets on hand and learned how to use them.

I think it's a relative stupid idea to make a leather helmet as a simple copy of a steel helmet. Leather helmets probably existed, in early Bavarian graves of the 6th and 7th century not a single metal helmet was found, but leather remains and boar tusks. Our living history guys made some helmets that look rather like early motorcyclist leather helmets with bulges. The boar tusks may have been only decoration or gave additional protection, it's not clear how or where they were attached. At least you can wear a leather lorica segmentata to the Windlass helmet to round off the perfect picture.

Don’t feel pregnant, that’s why I have an assortment of rivets on hand and learned how to use them. I have rivets, and do know how to use them. I shouldn't have to...within a week of purchasing a product. I bought a 3-buckle rapier carrier for my Hanwei side sword, and it made it as far as fitting it to the sword's scabbard before self-destructing. I've heard other complaints about Windlass rivets in reviews, but that was some time ago. As I said...maybe they have changed rivet type and maker for the better.....
As to the second day of the leather helmet.....too good of a Saturday night in Atlanta. "Aw, hell.....run it again....and bring me some coffee and an aspirin."
