Hey everyone! I’m new here and I come in need of your expertise. So, yesterday I bought an Epic Weapons replica Frostmourne from Supa Nova, a Comic Con and Gaming Convention in the Gold Coast Australia. The dealer had two variants of Frostmourne he was selling. An obvious knock off valued at 150$ and the much more expensive Epic Weapons variant valued at 539$ USD. The dealer seemed legit and was understanding of my concern of dubious knock offs. I did as much on the spot verification that I could and everything seemed to check out.
The sword came with the original display box, shipping container and wall mount. The dealer had informed me prior to purchase that the certificate of authenticity, the G2G reader and poster that were originally included at first sale were not included. Possibly lost?
However, a photocopy of a certificate of authenticity and hanging instructions were hidden under the styrofoam.
To me, it seems extremely suspect to not have the original certificate of authenticity, however being that it’s just a slip of paper, I’d assume it wouldn’t be too hard to lose.
The sword seems to check out in pretty much every way. It’s very heavy, was larger than the Chinese replica he was selling and has the Epic logo laser etched into the back of the blade. Colors, etching patterns and small details all look authentic. The wall mount is sturdy and has the Epic Weapons/Blizzard trademark sticker on the back.
There are a few discrepancies here and there, such as the letter "L" in "Steel" not looking correct on the back of the blade. The printed Blizzard logo on the box looking pretty fuzzy, the inverted color Blizzard logo on the back of the mount compared to others I've seen, a "TM" next to the word EPIC on the back of the mount and the skulls at the base of the hilt look to be extruding a little. Manufacturer defects? Minor variations in manufacturing maybe?
Also, I do not have a G2G reader or a windows computer to test the RFID chip imbedded in the handle. Just an FYI.
So what do you guys think? Do you think its authentic?
The dealer also has a website.
