Does anyone know of a supplier of torses for helmets? In case you don't know, a 'torse' is the decorative ring atop a helmet...usually seen on jousting helmets and most times with a long, decorative drape with heraldry symbols on it. They can be made of cloth or leather, or both. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

The drape is called a mantle, as in torso and mantle.

Only ones I know of are in Europe, and I'm not huge on how they look, I'm sure you could find some reenactment tailor over in the US that could whip one up for you? properly sized for your helmet and stuff, love me a good Torse.
All my US suppliers don't have torse's.

Actually, I got to doing some digging in my junk drawers...of which I have many...and found some stuff that I might try to make my own with. Got some round-tube packing foam...looks like a giant piece of spaghetti...and found some dark purple silk ribbon. I tested the foam with metallic gold spray paint and it took very well. Wrapped the ribbon spiral around the painted foam and it looks pretty darn good. The gold matches the brass cross on my Great Helm perfectly.
I figure that gold and purple are colors of Royalty, soooo.......We'll see how it goes. I have lots of leather for the mantle. If I can get a one-time use out of it at Ren-Fest this year, I'll just stick it on the helmet and leave it be for display. Thanks for the input.

Thanks, Strigoil....Yeah, I did a fair amount of searching and didn't find much that appealed to me either. The one I'm going to try to make myself will suit my needs, I think. It only has to look good for about 6 hours.

I basically made a donut shaped pillow, with the mantle double sided like a flag with window treatment cord as edging and weight to keep it away from my visor.
