I say ask away christain. It never really was a smashing firestorm, just a remarkable round of head scratching and perturbation
And that wood looks awesome! Great choice and nicely done
Edit: No seriously, the more I study the wood and how it matches the guard components and the gems...very nicely done

Well, it may have already been addressed, but----I wonder if all the new BKS items on KoA have anything to do with this thread---and probably other threads on other sword-sites? I'm sure they are bound to peek in occasionally on sword-sites to see what people are saying. I mean, in war, you don't attack a place without a map and some intel. Ya know?
And those prices....WHOA!

Thanks very much! I sanded to 600 grit after that photo was taken and applied some wax. It really looks great now. I'm actually happier with this handle than I was with the original. Someday, I'll have someone peen this for me too. The wood glued so beautifully I don't see my join. Bocote also smells very much like dill pickles when sanded. This whole process was a joy for me, and it made me hungry. So the nightmare is over. The sword is back and is better than ever!

How is it half the time I end up getting hungry when I hop on this forum?
And yeah, the new handle looks sweet, much better than the original did.

"We don't have a box" "What about the one it came in?" "Sorry we just don't have one" "You have a box the sword came in one" "Sorry no box still" "I PAYED 30 DOLLARS TO BUY A BOX TO SEND IT IN" Sorry we just don't have a box" It's like a sketch, it's unreal. How is a company this dishonest in their dealings and be this successful. It reminds me of the recent hearing with Mike Cohen, where one genius asked repeatedly, WHAR BOXES??? Oh how I laughed.

Ever seen the Star Wars movies? Where the Imperials dump their garbage before going to light-speed?

It is a unique piece and it definitely has a history now. It's rather like Narsil. I will put the finishing touches on it and it will become my Anduril. Perhaps I ought to name it. Any suggestions on a name? Good Grief? Splitting Headache?

Name it 'DIY'...but pronounce it 'Die'.... Since you basically HAD to do it yourself.

Nah, you'd take it, if only to hide it under the bed. Besides, ugly doesn't mean it doesn't kiss.

No, I'm with Gunnar on this. Even if that thing kisses, does my laundry and makes me breakfast, it would still not be worth it at a quarter of that price.
PS. If it makes GOOD coffee, then maybe.

Damn, I think that must have been hit with an ugly stick! Perhaps that’s why there will be no more after the supply is gone, can’t blame them there. I question if that is truly a Viking sword design.

In Peirce's book Swords of the Viking Age there are a couple swords that almost look like it except for the pommel is squared off more and the grips are 3.75 and 3.1 inches not 4.5 inches. Plus on the one where you can see the fuller it's much wider than this one.

And yet they produced my Nightmare Claymore, and I think it's beautiful. They are capable of making some nice stuff, but a significant portion of what they produce is rather brutal looking stuff like that "viking" age sword.

i find most of bks's production stuff to be a bit on the clunky and not too historical looking side, but their custom work is usually stellar looking, when u can get a hold of them
