I accidentally ordered a Cold Steel hand and a half on Amazon before I made this thread. I couldn't cancel it in time and it came today. It's really cool feeling a real sword like this. It feels kind of heavy and more like a tool than I thought a sword would feel like. I'm returning it of course and I'm going to order the Ronin Katana #2 or the Albion Crecy. I appreciate all of your help and I'll come back and show you guys what I got. The Cold Steel was heavier than I expected. I'm glad the Ronin I want is a little lighter. Where is the best place to order the Ronin? Do you guys have any coupon code or discounts? Take care. I got the CS Italian over the hand and a half because of the weight issue (and I loved the look of the Italian).

Thanks Sword bros You crack me up Faldarin. I like how the Italian looks over the Hand and a Half too but it's more of a thrusting sword. Looks like the Defender Sword from Dark Souls.

hahaha I saw the 7 was kind of thin and but the 2 is thicker and has a fuller, which I adore. Plus the 2 weighs less than the 7. I still love your 7 I'm guess the Cold Steel feels heavier because of the way its made. I was goofing around with Amazon prime and saw if I could order that Cold Steel but I couldn't cancel the order when I tried to right after. Honestly if you're already accidentally ordering swords, you'll fit in just fine here. I'm personally a sucker for a good fuller myself (especially scale-black fullers, and multi-fuller swords) - but the #1, #2, and #3 weren't available when I bought the #7. Also, I saw Matthew Jensen's destructive testing, and was blown away by the punishment it could take. I saw him demolish that thing. He reminds me of a somber Seth MacFarlane.

I really like the Battlecrys but they're small so they're probably not great cutting swords right? The Battlecry Line encompasses several swords with many characteristics and I can think of only a few words that would describe the entire line. I would not say the Battlecry series is handicapped in the cutting department. Of course some swords cut better than others by their geometry, which is not restricted to the Battlecries. Type in Windlass Battlecry Swords in YouTube’s search and you might get a better overall picture of these or any other swords of interest. As for a promo code MRL accepts SBGVIP giving a 10% discount. Once or twice a week (Fridays and/or Sundays) MRL offer the Deal of the Day to include a sword that has been discounted. They accept the promo code to give an additional discount.

Thanks Gandy. I'm sure I've seen every video about these swords on the earth. I'm so tired every day at work from staying up until 1 am every night looking at swords. My wife wakes up every few hours and is like what are you doing? I'm like, looking at swords...

Thanks Sword bros You crack me up Faldarin. I like how the Italian looks over the Hand and a Half too but it's more of a thrusting sword. Looks like the Defender Sword from Dark Souls. Your right on the thrusting emphasis, though cutting power is still quite significant (being it is a four foot, two handed, near 3lb piece of steel). One of the powers (versatility) of the longsword is its ability to be used as a kind of short spear in the bind, which is how they dueled against each other (as shown on many excellent YouTube vids...very fascinating). Years ago, like many, I used to think the longsword was this heavy, wild swinging, cumbersome beast that you had to be Conan to swing...but this was due to bad movies and historians comparing Great Swords (and often strictly ceremonial specimens) to the under 3lb ones you can swing one handed that were worn on a belt as sidearm.

If she is bothering you may I suggest sprinkling some beer on yourself, stumble into the bedroom, tell her you are watching pron, put on your best smile, and say you wanna play? You probably won’t hear a peep out of her for the rest of the night. Then you can return watching your sword videos in peace. I am full of terrific ideas if you are ever in the need. Hehe

I was surprised to learn how light they are too. I have a Buster Sword from Final Fantasy that's like 20 lbs and so hard to weild.

Hehe That's not a bad idea...I'm lucky to have such a loyal woman who supports me through everything. She often wakes up from loud noises from video games throughout the night, poor girl.

You might want to invest in a pair of headphones.

Thanks guys. I'll post some cool pictures when I get it I feel like a little kid whose dreams just came true. Praise God!! This will be my best friend until I get enough cash to get the Albion someday. Like a real life RPG. I'm planning on putting a cool gem or coin or something on the pommel. If you guys could help me with that and with maybe redoing the grip I would be so grateful. Have a great day and thanks for everyone's help and time.

2.) Not sure I'd recommend this one. Heard a fair bit about these snapping and breaking (not as robust or securely constructed as others on this list like the Ronin), and less secure hilt assembly on top of a fairly 'meh' leather wrap that comes loose pretty quickly. Though they handle well, I'd personally skip this one as I like swords that can take a beating and stay intact. Not a fan of the aesthetic design either. To clarify on this point, I don't know that it was the Hanwei/Tinker bastard swords that had this issue. It was the longswords (blunt to be particular). There might have been other issues I'd heard of, but this was the only large-scale one that I had caught. I 100% agree with the leather wrap though. Redoing the grip is definitely first priority. That's right, it was the blunts. Thanks for jogging my memory, been awhile since I stumbled on the footage

Such a cool looking sword. I've been seriously wanting to get one for myself for the last couple of months. Congrats on jumping in and looking forward to hearing your impressions Edit: Not sure about how to mount the gem other than just gluing it in (probably the only real way to do it). For some reason, I think moss agate would go good with this sword, or maybe labradorite
