Hey again, son . I've already given my thoughts on the #7. I haven't seen/handled the others, but they've been generally positively reviewed. Here's a couple of reviews to take a look for yourself: This isn't a model #2, but I think the blade is similar/the same. This is the model #3 , special edition (nonspecial just doesn't have the script, same blade.)Both of them pretty much say similar things to what I said about the #3. The blades are nice and durable, if a little heavy for what they are (not so much that they feel 'bad' to use though). They can definitely cut out of the box, but aren't super-sharp swords... from their geometry they should be relatively easy to sharpen if you're already skilled in sharpening. The #7 and the #2 are probably a bit more durable than the #3 (which has a monster blade, but with a normal sized tang). I still like the look and blade size of the #3 though.

Hey brother Faldarin, how are you? Thanks for the reply. I did't know about the #2 and #3 when I started this thread but I like them quite a bit. I was thinking the same thing about the #3. Albion's Alexandria is so beautiful and expensive so I was happy to see the Ronin Katana #3. I'm seriously contemplating getting the #2. How do you compare the #2 to the #7?

The #2 is a brand new model, despite being a 'lower' number. If you like the look of the #2, and can spend a few $ more $, it's probably the 'better' sword. In the end, it's up to you - but it seems like a very similar construction to the other modern Euro lines. In the end - which one do you like the look of better, and have the money for, in this case, I'd say.

Personally, I have a major soft spot for these broad type XVIII blades, so I'd go for Model #3. But that's just me.

Son, you can hum & ha and give your purchase much and serious thought. In the end I’ll guarantee that you will want another, something a little different. It’s like some kind of addiction.

I accidentally ordered a Cold Steel hand and a half on Amazon before I made this thread. I couldn't cancel it in time and it came today. It's really cool feeling a real sword like this. It feels kind of heavy and more like a tool than I thought a sword would feel like. I'm returning it of course and I'm going to order the Ronin Katana #2 or the Albion Crecy. I appreciate all of your help and I'll come back and show you guys what I got. The Cold Steel was heavier than I expected. I'm glad the Ronin I want is a little lighter.
Where is the best place to order the Ronin? Do you guys have any coupon code or discounts? Take care.

I understand Gandy. I have an addictive personality with OCD and all that. I just got diagnosed with vestibular neuritis, a form of vertigo a month ago and haven't been the same since. It put things into perspective and I'm actually glad it happened. I'm closer to God for sure and I'm beginning to realize what really matters. One of those things is getting a bad ass sword. Thanks again for your help.

Windlass is a good vendor for a starting sword. I've got an old 15th century longsword that's been in my collection for a LONG time. I slapped some blue loctite and it's been running great.
Has been used in some stage productions that I fight choreographed (not recommended usage but school didn't have anything :-P) and it held up fine. It's a blade I've sharpened as well and Windlass is a solid manufacturer to practice learning how to sharpen as well.
Ronin's Katana are great, I haven't used any of their Euros, but heard for the price they are hard to beat. I've owned a few Valiants and liked them but the price has risen quite a bit in the past few years, still great. Cold Steel I've only really liked their knives and haven't loved their swords.
Again YMMV but I've always considered Windlass stuff to be a great starting point for anyone.

Also for the Ronin, I've ordered both direct from them as well as through the SBG Sword (yay free shipping!)

I really like the Battlecrys but they're small so they're probably not great cutting swords right?

I didn't know you can buy them from SBG. That's pretty cool. If I can get a coupon code I'll get the Ronin (I signed up for the newsletter). Otherwise I'll keep saving for the Albion. Thanks again fellas

I really like the Battlecrys but they're small so they're probably not great cutting swords right? What do you mean by small? www.museumreplicas.com/bosworth-longswordThose proportions don't look off to me. It's a little thin and looks to be built around the thrust, but you could certainly cut with it. Also, www.museumreplicas.com/hattin-falchion would serve as an excellent cutter. I don't have hands on experience with the battlecry line, but most of the reviews have looked alright.

Wise man once say: Blade Width isn't everything. (Don't tell bladerunner that.) The RK Euro #7 isn't a very wide blade either. I accidentally ordered a Cold Steel hand and a half on Amazon before I made this thread. You accidentally ordered a sword. This is one of the better excuses I have heard. I'll warn you that the RK Euro #7 'feels' heavy as well for its actual weight, but it moves really well.

Rizzi, I mean thin and short. Not really ideal for cutting. I went over the specs and counted them out.

I really like the Battlecrys but they're small so they're probably not great cutting swords right? They're actually Windlass's line of purely user swords. They should be a okay for cutting.

Plus the 2 weighs less than the 7. I still love your 7 I'm guess the Cold Steel feels heavier because of the way its made. I was goofing around with Amazon prime and saw if I could order that Cold Steel but I couldn't cancel the order when I tried to right after.

I saw that. The Bosworth is pretty gorgeous but it's really thin and can't have a fuller that I adore. The Agincourt has a thicker blade with a fuller <3 but the blade is too short. The handle on the Bosworth is pretty nice looking too, better than the Agincourt in my opinion.

Oops, I believe a large knife (Ontario Gen ll SP53) is showing up tomorrow. How does this keep happening?

Honestly if you're already accidentally ordering swords, you'll fit in just fine here. I'm personally a sucker for a good fuller myself (especially scale-black fullers, and multi-fuller swords) - but the #1, #2, and #3 weren't available when I bought the #7. Also, I saw Matthew Jensen's destructive testing, and was blown away by the punishment it could take.
