So, the saya for the Musha Fire Dragon katana that I got from Trueswords is all cracked up after I accidentally dropped it. It's not that bad but I would like to get a new one, especially one that isn't loose to begin with. How would I go about getting another one? www.trueswords.com/Musha-Full-Tang-Fire-Dragon-Katana--Sword-36726 This is the product with the measurements. I used a ruler I had lying around and specs listed seem accurate enough.

First of all you could try and contact them about it. Maybe they can make you an offer for just the saya.
But else, hmm if on a budget you could look at sales for a cheap / decorative katana with a similar blade shape and length that comes with a saya.
But honestly, at a 70$ purchase I fear it'll be hard to find a cheaper matching saya and in the worst case you might as well have to purchase this complete set again. At least they seem to have a low shipping cost promotion going.

Hmm, I never thought about contacting them for just the saya. I'll try that. As for purchasing another set, that would just leave me with a katana lying out in the open without the saya either way.

Yeah, that's definitely an issue with a functional/sharpened one. With the decorative swords I suggested it usually isn't that much of an issue since their blades mostly aren't very sharp and made of stainless steel, so they literally can be lying out in the open without too much of an issue.
In fact I have some of those just standing in a corner myself.

I would do as Pummy suggested and contact True Swords as they may have a damaged katana with a good saya the would work. You will never find anyone to make a new saya for the price that you paid for your katana/saya. If needed, it’s best to buy another katana/saya from True Swords.

You can find cheap sayas on Ebay: LINKYThough you will likely get what you pay for. As for saya rattle and being loose, from what I understand it happens to low cost up to very high cost swords, you must be ready for some DIY work when you chose to buy a katana, no way around it I fear. Especially if you buy a saya not originally coming with the sword. That being said, shimming or filing is simple and easy - guides exists on this forum or on youtube on the 'how to'. o7

As others have alluded, there's no real guarantee any new saya you buy will even fit your sword. Sure, most modern Chinese-made katana fall into the same approximate dimensions; 28" nagasa, 1 1/4-1 1/2" wide at the habaki tapering to about 1" at the kissaki, about 2/4" (usually closer to 0.7") Tori sori; but you may find the saya you bought was for a sword with more sori, or maybe less, or a wider sword, or a shorter sword... It's a gamble, really. But you've pretty much got a 90% chance of something that fits "good enough" to at least store your sword safely. Best bet is to make something yourself, but who has the time?

I actually would not mind hearing who you recommend, I've gotten into Katanas a bit recently and just ordered a Feilong from Josh with some Tsukamaki work, planning for another one next year and might want a custom Saya for that so I'm kind of on the lookout for makers and finding a budget.
