Well! THIS certainly answers some of the questions I had when the leaf blades showed up again. Particularly if you click on the Kriegschwert under this heading. Sonny and his son are making their own blades for some models, via stock removal. They're even making them out of 6150, interestingly enough. So, at least I know where the VA Leafblades are coming from... (Edit: Speaking of the Leafblade Longsword, it looks like it includes a scabbard now, for the price, which was previously listed as blade-only.)

Aw leaf them alone. I think there are better trees to be barking up than this one. Wish I could afford VA swords lol.

The new line of American made swords utilize 6150 steel. They are starting to enter into the high end market and are bringing in some good competition to Albion, Arms & Armor and Stephen Lockwood. For the most part they are still cheaper than Albion because for the same price of an Albion you get a sword and a scabbard, both of which you can customize to your liking for a fee. The quality of these swords are unknown but given Valiant Armory' s reputation I think they would be a safe toss of the dice.

It's definitely a roll of the dice - I have a feeling though that Sonny has been working with Stephan Lockwood to hone his stock removal technique. This might be the next thing I'll look at, expensive sword-wise. (Especially if Sonny puts up the Malatesta in this category...)

I know they worked together in the past so maybe this is Stephen's way of lifting up the Valiant Armory brand in return for all the training and experience he earned from them in the past. Maybe we will see a collaboration project between the two in 10 years time. That would be really neat.

I've always admired VA swords.
If the leaf-blade longsword looked like a scaled up version of the smaller sword, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The proportions, blade tip, etc. look damn near perfect in the smaller sword, but the longsword seems off to my eye.

Oh my god. -_- Seriously. I'd just started saving money back up. Oh well... I'll update in a while. Sonny updated his site format a bit with these American made swords. There is a payment plan now where you make a deposit on the blade and pay the rest on your own schedule, just like with Albion. It's a nice form of compensation for those of us who have a fixed income but still appreciate nice things. $350 now and the rest later is doable considering that you spread out those payments across 4 months instead of in one large lump sum. You can save even more money by omitting the scabbard. But let's be honest, you're going to get the scabbards anyway because if you don't get the scabbard in the deal you are going to regret not ordering it. Valiant Armory scabbards are nice and one of the main selling points for their swords.

This is doubly true in the case of the Malatesta - one of (if not-) the most beautiful rigs I've seen on a production sword, hands down. I'm pretty sure it's going to be payment plan-with scabbard for me. I assume that's an option - was going to fire off an email to Sonny later today. I -might- get it in time for my birthday if I order now.

I'd really like to get the Malatesta. Why can't it be something like $200...

April. I imagine Sonny's going to have his hands full suddenly offering all of these AND a fantasy leafblade. I hope the leafblade stays in stock, because as much as I like it... it might have to wait on the Malatesta.

That Irish sword, in green to boot, is seriously calling out to me. Everything about it just seems like the perfect longsword for me, not just aesthetically (which it's an absolute stunner) but the blade specs and the craftsmen behind it make it a no-brainer.
Probably will aim to pick one up sometime within the next year (right after I pick up a rapier first, and maybe an aggressive wakizashi)
All of those models look exceptionally nice, the attention to detail on the scabbards and the handle designs (especially the pommels) are really impressive.
