I'm usually not too big into single handed Euro's/arming swords, but this model looks right up my alley. Really surprised it has such a long blade for a single handed sword, kind of makes me think of it as a more robust and cutting focused rapier-length weapon. What really gets me is the blade length is roughly the same as my Hanwei antiqued bastard sword. Thanks for sharing, it just made my short-list.

That's the major distinction of a Type XI on the Oakeshott Typology. They're basically a longer bladed Xa meant for horseback. It's actually a interesting and fun to use blade type. My Windlass European Sword fits the type as well and it's a fun sword to cut with.

Had the Windlass which was a dog. Recently sold my A&A. This actually looks pretty good for the price.

Yea this one is very tempting to me as I've always liked it and it's one of my favorites in Records of the Medieval Sword. One thing I noticed Hanwei got right over the A&A is the cross section. Hanwei got it nice and lenticular as opposed to A&A's diamond. Wish it had the wire wrap but that can always be remedied and plus Hanwei would probably add a extra $100 bucks to it if they did one lol. A replica of the original scabbard would of been sweet too but I like it how it is.

They pretty much took their standard CoY Xa blade they use for just about everything from the old Robin Hood Swords to the William the Conquer Sword and thinned the fuller and added that heavy gaudy hilt. Even with the $40 price increase the Hanwei just trumps the Windlass in all aspects. Hanwei did good on this one and the scabbard look quality too.

Always cool to have a copy of both The Sword of Saint Maurice in Vienna, Austria and The Sword of Saint Maurice in Turin, Italy.

If my medical debt was paid down enough, I would order that sword right now as well.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

I like the overall look of it, but with a wire wrap on the grip...oh yeah. But, as someone already mentioned, it would probably increase the price. For what it costs, and what it is, I'll pass.

That is beautiful - but I have to admit, I'd probably chop 6 inches off the end of it if I bought it! Awesome that such a good replica is available in that price range though!
