Sad news as I come back home, actor Powers Boothe has passed away. So many great roles, so many great memories from this actor. Peace be with you. My favorite:

That seriously sucks. I know he never got to Tom Cruise levels of stardom, but he was an awesome, solid actor. I really loved him in Southern Comfort and Tombstone.

Absolutely loved him as Aetius in the "Attila" mini-series, and his narration of the NatGeo doc "Lions & Hyenas: Eternal Enemies" is profound, maybe my very favorite doc ever.

Just so many great roles and performances. Unsung actor.

I found out upon returning home from visiting my parents last night. I was VERY saddened to hear this; I always loved Powers Boothe. My three favorite roles of his were: Southern Comfort, 1981, as "Hardin" Tombstone, 1993, as "Curly Bill Brocius" Deadwood, 2004-2006, as "Cyrus Tolliver" Rest in in peace Powers, and thank you.

Too bad, man this last year has been a rough one for actors. If I was an actor I'd be getting my checkups and staying in bed for the rest of the year.

He won an Emmy in 1980 for his role, done to creepy perfection, as cult leader Jim Jones.
