Still looking for the next 2 LOL Verm - Yes, I feel your pain. I plan to constrain myself as much as possible. I do not wish to go overboard like I have with other collections. Verity - Here is your future...hehe! there are worse futures than having a collection like Dave Kelly

I'm just kidding Verity! You know I want a collection like yours when I grow up!
.....I am going to use display cases like yours and Verm's, but I am trying to figure out how to put a light in the cases.

Ordering direct from sfDisplay gives you lighting options.😜 www.sfdisplay.com My verticals are sfDisplay. My horizontal are DisplayGifts. I personally like DisplayGifts better but their longsword cases are like always out of stock. They have better locks but both are UV protected yada yada. SfDisplay does have more felt and Wood color options and gives you the option of lighting if you order direct

Two Edo to late Edo period mokume tsuba arrived today in a crazy blizzard here in Massachusetts. Love the folding of the iron and flow of the pieces. Smaller one (7.5cm X 7.7cm) is signed "Masahide" and the hefty large one (9.0cm X 9.0cm) is unsigned. The larger one even has layering on the edges. Great additions. oh man I love the large mokko type one.... delish!

They are wonderful in hand, better than the pictures. Remind me of masame hada on swords.

“On a day of the eighth month, Keiō three" (1867) such fantastic! I wonder if it and my Kanetomo may have crossed paths in their lifetimes... 🤔😂

Possibly!
I learned to read dates with Markus Sesko help, but some unique kanji still confuse me.

Possibly! I learned to read dates with Markus Sesko help, but some unique kanji still confuse me. yeah those “first year” or “third year” ones can get tricky. So much easier when they are of the form <era> years <nen> months <gatsu> days <hi> But when you get “<era> Xth year of <nen>...” it throws you off. I know it does me. Also gets weird when you deal with different courts’ era designations. Have you seen the handy translation guides on Japanese sword index?
