Dang. I will say that is a nice destroyer atlantean. May not be canon with the pattern weld but I sure do like that. Not a huge interest in the heavy Conan swords but this may convince me to add that to the dragon hoard...

its a shame they took a shortcut on the grinds and didnt bring them all the way in like theyre supposed to be, woulda shaved even more weight. Also eliminate the screw on pommel and key/peen it. then it will be legit.

Yep, and if you have $3,273 plus shipping to spend the Albion is the best one out there. But if you don't have that kind of money to spend on one sword that's why they make swords like this one. Just like we all can't afford to drive a Mercedes SUV so we drive Ford Explorers or Chevy Blazers.

A screw on pommel does not function like a real sword. it requires almost no extra work to do a proper peened pommel, especially using bronze castings like they are doing here.

Not looking to get into a major debate here but if I remember correctly when Sonny at Valiant Armory was offering his swords in either pommel nut or peened he was charging an extra $80 for the peen. I'm not a fan of screwed pommels but if the grip is pinned and epoxied to the tang then the pommel almost becomes a decoration. Almost. A kashira on a katana is held on by cord does that make a katana not a real sword ? Are they dangerous to use as a sword ?

and sonny was charging more because he assembles them himself and his blades come from china already threaded. If you were making them yourself it would actually be MORE WORK to thread a tang thread a pommel and then screw it goether so everything lines up properly when you could just slide the pommel over the tang and peen it.

its definitely a bargain for the price but I'm sure we can all agree that we would like the Albion version more, I wouldnt buy either one as they dont have scabbards and its a pain to get one made custom for such a unique and large sword

A wood core scabbard is not that hard to make yourself especially if you're covering it in fur like Conan had in the first movie. Just don't use Wolf fur like in the movie or I will have to hurt you.

While I agree that a pommel as big as the one on the Conan swords should be peened, if for nothing other than strength, a screw on pommel doesn't make a sword inherently bad. I've had antique swords made for war, and used in war that had screw on pommels. The Italian 1860 is an example. Then again, the pommel of a military sabre is not the same as say, a wheel pommel on a type XIV, at least in terms of being much smaller and usually lighter.
