Do not do any business with this guy. I tried to buy his bamboo mat katana and even paid what he asked. I used paypal and I guess he realised he can't have the money without sending the sword so he returned the money. I don't think he even has a sword. Link below: sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/49363/sell-hanwei-bamboo-mat-katanaHe uses this e-mail: musashi-miyamoto@gmx.de His name is: Mert-Furkan Bostan

it makes me sick thinking about it, the sword community is already niche as it is and does not need such scum in it, thanks for letting the rest of us know and glad he didn't get any of your monies

He used username "sosukeaizen" with me and tried to pull a bunch of crap.
I sent him paypal and then he suddenly said oh it's too expensive to ship I will refund money
Then claimed he didn't know how to refund money then stopped responding. I told him like eight times how to refund the money.
I filed a paypal claim and won and suddenly he messaged me like "omg I am indebted to paypal what is going on"
I told him too bad, he shouldn't have tried to pull a fast one and then he disappeared.

Yeah I thought that was the same parasite. Pretty pathetic to try the same thing again when it didn't work before.

And now they are gone from the forums. Probably back again sometime later.
I guess thats a lesson to use paypal unless its someone who you trust, and who has a good reputation

I guess thats a lesson to use paypal unless its someone who you trust, and who has a good reputation Its ALWAYS a good idea to ask buyers to use "Goods and Services" and/or pay the same way yourself in case you do have to file a grievance. Indeed. I have had a few instances where sellers suggested I use bank transfers to save on fees et. I can see the logic - 3 or 4% of a $700 sword is a lot, so its a risk analysis. If it were someone like Dave Kelly or yourself, then sure. If anything because you are actively involved in selling swords on at least a semi-regular basis and rely on your good reputation for said business. For someone with only 8 posts and nothing to loose from a bad reputation - paypal and buyer protection the heck out of it! Wonder when this seller will show up again. Also, does paypal not charge them a fee for cancelled transactions? Seems like a rubbish way to scam people if you invariably get dinged by paypal every time. Unless you expect that people won't report the missing sword to paypal for some reason, which seems a very risky business model. Just trying to understand what this seller is hoping to gain from this endeavor.

What a scumbag. I'm glad you got your money back, and I'm sorry for the hassle I'm sure you went through. If any of the admin are checking- perhaps we should put a pinned post cataloging any/all bad buying experiences for posterity. (I'm sure user name will change, but MO and certain details may remain) Also, I agree with Afoo . I don't like Paypal fees as much as the next guy, but hey a few percent cut is a small price to pay for insuring your $700 -or- so investment. Considering that Paypal is the one shouldering the risk of a bad transaction (and can potentially loose money as a result), the fees don't seem that unreasonable.

yeah i agree with those above me, using goods and services is much better protection for the seller and the buyer, only accept friends/family if you believe they can be trusted, but even then nothing is certain as people can call their bank to charge back, I have found that scams are very miscue on this forum compared to other forums I've been on in the past which is a good thing, hope this is an isolated incident and this guy never comes back

Well, this explains why he doesn't respond to my messages any more.
He contacted me some time ago saying he was interested in buying the Bugei 5160 Samurai I have for sale. I replied with shipping information and extra pictures but he hasn't responded to that in the past few days. I guess for me from a sellers perspective it's pretty easy; if he sends me the money I send him the sword. Always unfortunate to have a bad apple in here.

I wouldn't even sell to him. Dude seems to be a big fan of working the system; I'm sure he'd find some way to screw you over or attempt to.

That's a good point md02geist.
Shobutengu: Don't take not accepting paypal as a sign of a lack of trustworthiness, there are still a LOT of places, people, stores, countries, etc. that don't accept or use paypal. Here in Europe plain old simple bank transfer has been the golden standard for decades because it's cheap and very safe. Though the use of paypal has seen a huge increase here in the past years bank transfer and it's various instant-payment-forms similar to paypal like Ideal will probably continue to be the standard for a long time. Paypal isn't as established as a lot of people think, it's still a relatively new payment system. For a lot of people, stores, places, countries, etc. bank transfer and it's various forms are still the norm and default method of payment.
