Agreed to purchase a Hanwei Bamboo Mat katana from this member. We arranged shipping (he is out of country) and I even agreed to pay extra for shipping cost etc. Not a problem.
He sent me several messages over the course of the day asking when he could be expected to be paid; I paid nearly immediately.
This was on 7/9.
He stated it would be shipped soon.
I said fine, okay let me know when it ships.
On 7/11 he wrote
"I had a very busy day. Tomorrow, it will be sent. I will also give you the maintenance kit since I won´t need it anymore..."
I said that was fine.
On 7/12 he wrote
"Dear md02geist,
Germany isn´t a good country when it comes to shipping. I must order a special box...
Sorry but you have to wait
Regards"
30 minutes later he wrote:
"Thursday or Friday IT WILL be sent."
And then:
"Thursday it will be shipped. "
I said "Ok."
On 7/12 the SAME DAY about 5-6 hours later he wrote:
"After long thoughts, I decided to not selling the katana.
I´m sorry. You can take you money back."
At this point I was frustrated with all the back and forth excuses and crap so I just said Ok fine, just issue the refund.
He responded:
"There is one problem...
When I got the money PayPal changed it to pounds. Now, I can only send dollars back, but it is in pounds.... '
Please help. Or just take the money by saying to paypal that I we don´t trade anymore"
I said I would handle stuff on my end through the resolution center and opened a dispute. It's now easy as eating pancakes to issue a refund, we all know this.
He wrote to me:
"Are you online? Please help me so I can pay you the sum back
Your [amount ommitted] dollars are in my account but in form of [amount ommitted] pound sterling. Don´t know what happened but I can´t refund you that money. You know how to change to dollar again?"
I responded:
"Yes I am online, yes I am sending message. I did it through paypal resolution. Please click on paypal resolution case and click "full refund" thank you. This is a huge pain."
He didn't respond until 7/13 on which he said:
"I am not in love with your money but I have a problem with PayPal. I don´t see the money I got from you. After solving this problem I will send you your money. Please wait a bit more. PayPal is a complicated bullsemprini that I will never use again.... "
I wrote back:
"Just click on dispute and click issue refund. It's that easy. Explained this a lot of times now."
He has since not logged back onto SBG, and I have no refund though the dispute is open. I called paypal and escalated it to a claim since he wants to play games with my money.
Just a forewarning, this is the sort of thing you can expect from this guy apparently.
