Way late to the party, but finally got bored and started watching Vinland Saga.
It's pretty intense. Pity the swords are so ridiculous, though.
Anyway, I think I just finished episode four, but probably won't have the chance to watch any more until Sunday or so.
Meanwhile, the new, summer season is rolling out. So far the lady and I have watched the new season of Kobayashi, HameFura, Shinigami Bocchan, Shiroi Suna no Isotope, and Uramichi no Oniisan. We're planning to pick up the new TenSura, Love Live, Kanojo mo Kanojo, and perhaps a few others. We'll see.

I'm not a furry
Was also interested in Record of Ragnarok but from ive heard of the manga fans netflix butchered it and the animation quality looks kinda meh so ill probably skip it.

I absolutely *love* the Record of Ragnarok manga, but yeah, the anime adaptation looks pretty disappointing, sadly.

Just finished Vinland Saga. It was...okay? I had higher hopes, but there it is.

Vinland Saga is quite possibly my favorite manga of all time. Haven't seen the anime yet though.

Currently making my way through the end of My Hero Academia Season 4. It's not my favorite series, but I enjoy the fights and the hype the series can inspire. I'm looking forward to Season 5, a friend who's further ahead in the series says that Season 5 focuses on a number of characters that I'm eager to see more of.
As for manga, I finally finished Vagabond after starting it around 3 or 4 years ago. Some of the fight scenes were literally so intense I found myself unconsciously holding my breath. The art was beautiful, and the whole manga is extremely realistic (well, barring one particular story arc). Oddly enough, I found myself losing interest about three quarters of the way through... Hence why it took me so long to finish, I think I dropped it and didn't pick it up for another year. The manga doesn't end, it just drops off at the beginning of a new story arc, and the series has been on hiatus for years now, so who knows if it'll even get finished.

Haven't read the manga for Vinland Saga, but might pick it up sometime. I feel like the anime started strong and carried a good pace for most of the season, but kinda petered out at some point.
Vagabond is one I've been meaning to read for years now. I think I got a few chapters in once, but never got back to it, for some reason.
MHA is a decent show. I'm not usually one for the big action shounen titles, but this one throws in enough odds and ends that I can appreciate it. I'm not sure where we are as we watch so irregularly, but the last episode was pretty dark. Next one should step things up, though.

I stopped watching anime, I don't think there's really anything that good anymore no offense, I think the golden age has mostly passed. I haven't watched much in a long while. I waited for way over a year after the initial release date for mugen train and there was still no movie, that is until a week ago I found it in a corner of the internet online, I use crunchyroll so. It was ok a lot of people say it was a wet dream, it honestly in my opinion was a huge let down it was so hard to get through from beginning to middle most of the time. And I don't how to describe it, but it didn't have that vibrancy that pow that alive feeling too it it just didn't have it like it did in every single episode in demon slayer season 1, that was probably the best anime ever for me. It felt more dead like a modern day movie, there wasn't that real emotion feeling or any of that until the end of the middle to the end itself and it was few times when it was. 6/10. And you know your gonna have to wait a long while for season 3 which I think is next year sometime. When this thread was created in 2016 there was the rise of good anime's but now dead, covid half the fault the other half is Japan actually. I've heard some whispers from people that Japan actually doesn't want to make anime a lot anymore, believe it or not. A lot of it is because of the censorship going through other countries if you want the anime going there, among other reasons, It's really sad but that's the word in a few circles I've been through. Which would sort of make sense because even prior to covid nobody was really making that much really dedicated anime anymore compared to how it used to be. A lot of the newer stuff was crap romance anime, but I digress.

Anime goes up and down from time to time. My favorite years for anime would probably be 2008-9. I largely fell out of the whole thing for a little while around 2012 or so, but there have been a few things every season that are worthwhile. My girlfriend watches more than I would be myself, so it gives me something to do.
Depending what you're into, you're either getting a lot of stuff or just a few, niche things, but those niche things often hit all the right places.

I feel like there's so many great older series that one could spend a long time just watching/reading stuff from years and years ago (depending on your pace of consumption, obviously). I know that there are entire anime/manga franchises from the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's that I have yet to even dip my toe into, and I'm currently barely keeping up with the few modern shows or manga series I watch/read. And then there's always the odd, obscure modern series or two that comes out under the radar that I end up stumbling across and absolutely loving.
I detest waiting for weekly/monthly episodes though, so I'm used to reading/watching stuff that's been out and finished for years. The only series I've ever kept up to date on month by month are Attack on Titan and Golden Kamuy. Attack on Titan is finished, and I'm starting to think I might drop Golden Kamuy and pick it back up once it's finished.

Also been wanting to get into figures, though financially it's going to be a while until I can buy any kind of luxury item. This summer I did buy one figure though, Black Sabbath from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, made by Di Molto Bene. It's a good figure, but it's got some rough seams. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, and I'd buy more if money wasn't so tight. I'd really like to get Cream from JoJo Part 3, but those were running about $500 or so when I last checked.

Scale, PVC figures have gotten very expensive. Pop Up Parade and a few other companies, though, have been slowly churning out incredible figures for a measly $30. I've got a handful, and would get more, but they're still pretty sparse for characters I like and I'm trying to not buy any more for a while. Too many other things need my money.
Marathoning a series is easily the best way to watch it, when/if you can, but keeping up with weekly airing is the only way to watch the newest shows, which I'm fine with. We still sometimes grab whole batch torrents of older stuff, though. Most recently we just finished the TV anime (as opposed to the OVA) of Black Rock Shooter, vintage 2012. She'd seen it when it was new, but I'd never felt the need. It was interesting, but hectic and confusing at times.

Pop Up Parade looks like great quality for the price, appreciate the recommendation! Any other good brands around that price range?
Yeah, I get needing to keep up with a series, and weekly release isn't too bad. But if it's monthly release, then I'm definitely going to have forgotten most of what happened in the episode/chapter that got released the previous month.

I think either Banpresto and/or Beat used to do non-scale figures around the $20 mark, but that was ages ago and if they're still doing them they're probably closer to $60 now. Wave used to have their Beach Queens line, from which I have the Taiga Aisaka from Toradora. I think it was $30-35 when I bought it, but the last time I saw a Beach Queens it was closer to $60. I want to say Alter, or maybe it was Kotobukiya or Goodsmile, had introduced a line recently that was around the $30-50 mark, but I can't remember now. Average 1/8-1/7 scale figure these days is easily over $100. For example, we just got in two orders of several figures. In one box, we had three figures from one of her favorites, Nekopara. (she likes the VNs, we don't talk about the anime) Among these was a non-scale (give or take 1/6 ish) figure of Maple, from Union Creative, which cost us ¥17,000. Ouch. Last year we got FREEing's "S-Style" 1/12 scale Maple for under ¥4,000. In November, we should be getting Pop Up Parade's non-scale (I think they run about 1/8-1/10) Maple, and it's still up for pre-order at a measly ¥3,300. www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=FIGURE-119440www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=FIGURE-046088www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=FIGURE-129971We've also paid over ¥30,000 for several Nekopara figures put out through Native, but I won't link those here...

Mmmm, guess I'll stick to Pop Up Parade for now. I usually like the more complicated figures, but obviously those are more expensive.

mostly just the new round of isekai junk and that hitman show
beastars really went to crap in season 2... someone told me the author of beastars is the daughter of the author of grappler baki and boy did it show in season 2, ugh
I don't know if I can stomach a season 3 but there's so little else currently worth watching I'll basically have no choice, I've already seen just about every non-moe anime made since the 80s

I stopped watching anime, I don't think there's really anything that good anymore no offense it has indeed grown worse, it's almost nothing but pure flashback filler and an infinite loop of the Top Ten tropes now, and there's that insufferable "HEH" noise all the voice actors make at the middle and end of almost every sentence which they started a few years ago, that sounds like they're out of breath, and what's the deal with japan's weird new obsession with killing dragons
how many freaking shows do we need about killing dragons? why does every show now need to vilify dragons and wolves
getting pretty tired of anime myself tbh
