Hello all. My first post to this forum.
I have a Hanwei Tinker bastard sword on it way to me. I went with the bastard sword instead of the longsword since I wanted the 10 oz lighter weight of the bastard sword. However, I think the design of the pommel on the longsword would suit me better. I have small hands and if I could let my left hand slide down a little over the pommel, I could get enough space between my hands to use the bastard sword as if it were a proper 2 hander. The disk pommel on the bastard sword wouldn't easily allow that. I'm wondering if the pommel from the longsword will go on the bastard with out issues? or maybe with just some minor file work?
Has anyone tried this? Does anyone have a Tinker longsword that they can provide the thickness and width of the tang just before it tapers to the threaded section? Also the length of the threaded section? When my Tinker bastard sword arrives I can post the same dimensions for it.
I don't know of any where that sells the factory pommels. If anyone has replaced the pommel on their tinker longsword with something else and has the factory pommel just sitting around, I'd be able to offer a fair price for it if you can part with it.
I know there are places to buy pommels that third parties have made for the Tinker swords, but I'm not looking to change the look that much. I think the crossguard will be fine for me, so getting a factory take off seems to make sense if it can be made to fit.

Thank you, great information. Looks like the threaded section is ~9mm shorter on the bastard sword. Looks like the longsword has a thicker tang at the pommel as well. I doubt I could make it work since the differences are more than just a few mm. I'll have to find another option. Maybe reshape the pommel on my sword. Or make one myself so I can match the weight.
I do have a highly accurate scale, so when I get around to disassembling my sword I can add the weights of pommel and guard to the database.

I'm not going to give up on the longsword factory pommel yet. When my bastard sword arrives I'm going to take the actual measurements of everything and then decide if I can make it work. (After I destroy several dozen water bottles and melons.) From the info LG Martial Arts directed me to, it looks like the dimensions can vary from piece to piece. Maybe mine will have variations in the direction that makes it just barely doable with some shimming and filing. I think it should arrive early this week. Thanks for the help!
If anyone can post dimensions and weight on the HT longsword pommel that would help me?
