I'm pretty new here myself. Welcome aboard.
The spider pet thing is pretty interesting. My wife tolerates my swords, but would absolutely burn the house down if there were spiders in it. Maybe the neighbors' houses, too, just to be sure!
That "miracles and low standards" thing was funny.

I'm lucky enough to live in a cold enough climate that there aren't any abnormally large insects, the most annoying thing is just the occasional gnat during the hot summers that I smack down when they float in front of my face

The really tough part about this hobby is that ya gots ta stay awake n never leave the house agin 'cause ya take your eyes offen'em for just a second n the lil buggers breed like, like, crazeeee. Seriously! Welcome to the club ;)
