Anyone here have one of these? It'a a Savage 10ba in 308. Been reading good reviews on them with the only negative thing being the weight. Not something you would want to be running around on rough terrain with.

Can see your point but I have a soft spot in my heart for the old sniper round. My first long range rifle a Remington 700 was a 308. Even though there are other good calibers out there I like the longer barrel life, availability of ammo and a shorter bolt pull. From what I see the long action runs about $500 more. Plus when I sold my Remington I held on to my stock pile of ammo. A couple of interesting articles on the subject. www.longrangehunting.com/articles/308-winchester-1.phpwww.luckygunner.com/lounge/308-win-vs-30-06/

Oops, just came across a new model Savage came out with. The 10 BA Stealth, it looks a lot lighter than the 10 BA and it's only available in 308. It's in their Law Enforcement series. Have to do some more reading on it. Retail is $1207 which means they will probably be available online for a hundred or more less.

Did some checking and found the Stealth available for as low as $941 with free shipping. Couldn't find a lot of reviews but the ones I did find said the rifle was more then they expected. Found some longrange matches where they did well but would like to find where a expert shooter tested them. But so far it looks like a winner.

Here's one for the 308 skeptics.

Well I went with the Savage 10 BA Stealth in a 308 and Vortex Viper PST in 4-16 x 50mm scope. Precision Armament muzzle brake, Grace Armory tactical bolt handle, Vortex Precision Matched scope rings, Lonestar Angle Cosine Indecator and Atlas Bipod. Now the assembly starts.
