Yesterday I was doing a bit of tidying-up in my room, which I am embarrassed to admit is sorely neglected on that front, and my pitiful excuse for a "mind" was (as it often is) blown by just how much stuff I keep on this old chair. Not all swords, granted, but mostly. To demonstrate, here's said chair, in its usual configuration: Here's all the same stuff, laid out on my queen-size mattress: Forgive the lousy photos, to describe my cell phone's camera as "inadequate" would be speaking lightly, and it suffers even more from my overhead lighting not currently functioning. I have but a lone desk lamp, with a 100-watt equivalent CFL "daylight" bulb to illuminate something like 300 square feet, and I almost never have the pleasure of natural sunlight as my windows face a very northerly north-northeast and the large trees in the back yard are not inclined to share what sunlight passes that side of the house. At any rate, ignoring the cloudy distinction of "sword" versus "knife," in total my recliner is home to 16 "sharp objects," not counting the two pictured box cutters and my multi-tool, plus three decorative pillows, six plush toys, an old blanket and pillow case, plus a honing steel. This is in addition to numerous knives that live on my desk and headboard, plus other swords and assorted goods scattered throughout the room. I thought some of you might get a kick out of my chair, though. Once I'd gotten it cleared off and vacuumed it, around and underneath it, I sat in it for a good while, pondering alternative storage solutions for the arsenal that had managed to sneak up on me and was then occupying my bed. I failed, so back to the chair it all went. I'll probably repeat this entire scenario a month or two when I clean up again...

How about under the bed?

Many of those blades are of similar size so, buy a ceramic planter and stick them in in grips facing up. This way it will reduce the square footage needed to lay the blades down and allow you to instantly grab the blade you need without digging around the chair. I suggest a ceramic planter because the weight of the planter won't allow the blades to flip it over.
Now for the plush .........

Ceramic planter's not a bad idea, an umbrella thing might work, too, except I have nowhere to put one. Only two mediocre nihonto, William. Though the contents of the chair is probably the greatest concentration of spent money in my room...

Just keep adding more blades to the chair and soon you will have your own reclining iron throne. You'll have to remove the scabbards though. For the rest, perhaps a hanging ceiling shelf could work (for your space issues).

I just keep all of mine in a guitar bag. Does the trick. Plus easy transportation

All those blades are currently tucked into a stacked pair of old scooter tires around a tall box of 2x4s, as the chair is in use. This is a temporary solution only, as I do not trust their stability.
I tried to find alternate homes for them, the other day, but nothing was working satisfactorily, so they went back to the chair. Problem is, the swords are all about the same size, and fit well enough into other parts of the room together, but the knives just don't match the scaling well and simply don't fit anywhere. Boo.

Would need more pictures to get a better idea of storage possibilities. I remember you have a lot of collectables. If you have very limited storage room I could recommend a slim rifle case that you can easily stash under bed. One possibility would be making a full drawable storage space under your bed. It would be an easy way to add storage space. You could have portion for swords and rest for other stuff.

But Tyres are such multi purpose things! Stick a few wooden supports in them and they will stabilize. I have made a sparring 'buddy' with my old torn punch bag and some Tyres. It's really fun giving him a pounding.

Also, I have a sword practicing stand with Tyres on it. Really nice for practicing motions etc with realistic rebound and a wooden sword would be safe.

This is where and how everything is stashed right now, but I'm not happy with it and they'll be moving ASAP: Low quality picture because my phone isn't great, as usual. To the left of this is a gun safe and a gun cabinet, the latter with a glass panel in the door. Unfortunately, both are filled with other swords (and guns) already. Even if they weren't, the support structures are spaced to house standard sized rifles. Everything is too short, in other words, for either option to work. As for better pictures of my room, my old Photobucket album has some pictures that should give an idea of how much stuff I've crammed into my little piece of space. Sorry if Photobucket assaults you with ads, especially if you're on mobile, but that album can be seen here: s190.photobucket.com/user/randomnobody/library/Room%20Pics?sort=3&page=1Under-bed or other cabinet-style storage options have been considered, but I like having things visible... Edit: Hmm, just realized that album doesn't really showcase the actual space as well as I thought... Place is kind of a mess right now, but if I can tidy it up sometime this evening or tomorrow, I'll try to get some more current (and better) photos. Basically, there is no room for anything new.

Today I realized my poor recliner has gotten worse: I also realized how terrible those original photos really were. I only had one, small lamp in my room at that time, but since I've had the ceiling fixture reworked and got a new phone with a better camera... (Please ignore the surrounding clutter, it's a work in progress)
