Hi guys just having a bit of a daydream moment and it occurred to me to start a thread.
Do you ever have those daydream, escapism or what if moments where you imagine yourself in a certain place, time or reality? Well that's the gist of this thread.
If you could transport yourself into any Book, Comic, Movie or TV series what would it be? And feel free to add any commentary about your escapism.
For me, at the moment, I'd escape into the Wheel of Time book series but my conundrum is I'm not sure which people / group I'd be apart of or even if I'd have the one power of not.

That all depends; are we choosing them for their setting or their story? 'Cause the latter, at least for me, tend towards things like genocidal wars, mass destruction, and potential world obliteration, as well as the general collapse of human society (or they just take place in our world, which kinda defeats the purpose). Enjoyable to watch/read, not so much to live. I mean, you'd really wanna pick your Age carefully, or you'd likely go violently insane shortly after you began touching saidin and given the number of people in WoT that can walk all over muggles with impunity, you'd want to be able to use the Power.
All that said, my choice is pretty simple: Gundam Build Fighters. It takes place in our world an indeterminate amount of time in the future, 10 years after a particle was discovered that allows the plastic that Gundam plastic models, aka Gunpla, are made of to move; it can also simulate weapon effects, destruction effects, the works, so naturally, a battle system was developed for it. In the decade since, Gunpla Battle has become one of the world's most popular sports with a world tournament on par with the real world Soccer World Cup, if not greater. I've been a Gundam fan ever since Gundam Wing came to Toonami some 15 or so years ago, but Gundam series are typically all about the horrors of war, particularly what happens when you thrust teenage combatants right into the middle of it, which makes it kinda hard to want to live there. GBF, on the other hand, is pretty lighthearted and, above all, just looks like so much fun that it's a really great daydream location to escape to.

And you chose both;) If I had to choose a second scenario id enter the settings from the Outlander Book series, I'd be hanging out with Jamie or Dougal in the Scottish highlands or South Carolina from later in the books.

That all depends; are we choosing them for their setting or their story? No fixed rules it's you escapism. Sometime the setting and time period can be far more appealing than the surrounding story.

For me it would J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth. Not too picky about when , other than sometime , pre- Bilbo finding the One Ring in the Third age. I love His writing ... not a fan of the movies.
Or being able to hang out with Ull and / or Skadi from Norse mythology and share hunting stories .. Andy.

Well, if I have to choose...
Barsoom.
(That, or pretty much any world the collected works of Phil and Kaja Foglio take place in.)

Movie: the patriot. It depicts a time when men were men, people settled disputes personally, and self-reliance was a well-regarded virtue.
Comic: Full-metal alchemist. I've always liked those swords. Roy mustang's fire alchemy is awesome.
Book: anything by Stephen Hunter, especially "Pale Horse Coming". I'd love to storm that prison camp right next to Earl Swagger.
TV series. "Have Gun, Will Travel". Something about a highly educated, articulate hero with the capacity for brutality appeals to me.

I have to agree with Vincent that the world's of some of the most interesting stories would be the most terrifying places to live (i.e. A Game of Thrones). So I tried to pick universes where there is a lot of adventure, some conflict, some danger, but where good triumphs over evil as a rule.
Movie: Star Wars TV: Star Trek TNG Book: Chronicles of Narnia or Middle Earth Comic: Tricky. My favorites growing up were Conan titles, x-men, and batman. Conan is a possibility--the age of high adventure--a cool setting to read about but anyone who's name isn't Conan or Red Sonja dies pretty quickly. The super hero worlds are bad choices because heroes and villans never die (permanently). Instead homicidal maniacs like the Joker continually escape to wreak havoc on the poor non-hero inhabitants of the world. If you are a super hero, life is good, but otherwise you are just a victim. So my choice would be: Archie--not the most adventurous choice but now for the important decision: Betty or Veronica?

TV: Battlestar Galactica, the original series, it was more fun.
Books: The Honorverse. I'd love to be a sailor or marine in Her Majesty's Royal Manticoran Navy
Movie: Duck Soup, so I can watch the gags fron a different angle
Comic Book: Deadpool, that guy cracks me up
