Good to know someone is enjoying this, hopefully you will enjoy the simpler, smaller less know styles of falcata I will be doing for a while until I get back into the larger more know styles later. Going to follow the charts Pogo and Draven send or posted.

Looking good, Lyn. Definitely looking forward to seeing some of the less commonly reproduced styles.

Have 2 of the less common types already rough forged, I will post them later. Going by the chart you send me right now Pogo. A lot of the less common types look like fantasy swords. Have to wait until the steel I ordered comes in before I can do the nest one. It should be here in the next few days.

I think its cool you're branching out into different types of blades, LD ... I noted your " seax " period, and now this. Way to go ! Keep up the great work ! I think you could do a nifty Germanic Single Edged sword similar to The Albion Cherusker ... www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/nextgen/sword-germanic-cherusker.htmPS Believe me, man, if my situation were different I'd be talking to you about a coupla' things.

Oh yeah, this tickles my fancy! How thin will you make this? I have seen a few historical ones in museums and they seem wafer thin.. sure lots of corrosion but super thin and light.

Any chance of posting a picture of the chart with the different types? It will give me an idea of how much I need to save up...

This one is a little under 3/16in thick, any thicker and this would be a real beast to handle. Some will be thicker, some will be thinner. Right now I am working my way through history, next will be Greek swords. Then Roman, Celtic, Migration era, (they aren't very popular) and Viking. There will be a couple of viking and Roman swords throw in during the falcata. I plan on doing the german sword the same time I'm doing the Roman, Celtic. Don't think it will be very popular either. Here's the charts. I plan on doing 41 falcata, know most won't sell but it improves my skills. Falcata aren't real easy to forge. Easier to do double edge swords. I am having touble doing the horse head grip. Also won't be any bonze grips inless someone wants a bare blade and wants to do it themself.

Thanks mate, I'll be following this with interest. There's a couple there I like the look of, hopefully the Australian dollar won't fall much further.

Why wouldn't they sell? Your work looks pretty good so far and it is great that you are tackling some hard to do designs. If you could do a light one with a thin cross section I would be interested for sure. :)
With regards to the grips, I think if you drilled in some holes, people would be happy to self-mount them in wood.

The holes will be drilled in the tangs.

Ok I for one would love to have one of these. Just bare tempered blade is all I want. If your doing 40 of them I may want more. Let me know the cost.
