I tried to do this same thing maybe few years ago but nobody was interested back then. Now as there is so much raving about eBay katana again, I thought maybe I'd try this again.
Here are some sword shops/forges around 剑池西路 Jianchi West Road in Longquan. This is just basic stuff that you can find putting some of your time into it. Some forumites and staff like Paul and Chris for example will know a ton more about what is really going on in there. I'm just bit saddened that people do not seem to be very interested about the subject. Hopefully we will get much more info about this topic that I am about to post.
Of course there is the business secrecy part. Retailers will usually want to hide where they are getting their blades. I must give much praise to Paul and Chris as they have been very open about their decisions.
Here are some of the stores/forges in there, I included links to few. I'll write the names in romanji as otherwise it would take too much of my time.
Zhengshi Daojian: www.zs-sword.com/
Longquan Daojian: www.longquan-baojian.com/
Shenglong Daojian: www.shenglongdaojian.com/
Takes too much time to find links for all of these, but you can see all these at Google maps.
Longquan Shenfeng Daojianchang
Longquan Changrong Daojianchang
Longquan Chengshi Daojian
Gutian Daojian
Longquan Qianqian Daojian
Jianping Daojian
Zhengshi Daojian
Bangping Daojian
Longquan Xinxing Baojianchang
Longquan Ruiwen Daojian
I hope someone will have enough interest to continue this. I'm not much into Chinese made production swords anymore but I thought I'd throw this for start so people can start their research.
