Lately I've been looking to pick up a carbine mainly for target shooting or plinking. One platform that caught my eye was the Beretta ARX 100 and 160. Anyone ever use one of have any info to share on them. I got a change to handle a coupl today and they felt pretty solid and comfortable. Thanks.

I played around a bit with a new ARX 100. Just my personal opinion of course, but I thought the ergonomics were terrible. The safety is awkward, the built-in sights were terrible, and the trigger pull was "undesirable" to say the least. It just felt like it was built to fit a creature that was a bit different than a human.

Sorry, I have not used any Berettas. Wife has a contact to get me a Beretta pistol at 1/2 MSRP. As an anniversary presents (say what?!) I just said, I would like one in .45. Alas, here in the Peoples Republic of Mexifornia, the Calif Govt has not approved any Beretta 45's for sale in Calif. Choices only 9mm or .40. Which caliber would you recommend? Use would be plinking, informal target, and God-forbid, home and family defense. RinC

I never owned that particular Beretta rifle but I do own a Beretta CX4 Storm 9 mm carbine. It's very light and ergonomic. I didn't care for a lot of the plastic internals though so I had the rear buffer, guide rod, and a few other things upgraded to tougher materials. Other than that it's a great pistol carbine and since I did the magazine type swap on it it shares the same magazines as my 92FS!

I have a buddy who works as a dispatcher for the CHP, and he carries .45. I typically carry 9mm, because I shoot it well and like having more rds... but in CA where you are limited to the 10rd mag, why NOT carry .45... might as well get the most bang for your buck.

I had a Just Right Carbine in 9mm and .40sw that took glock mags, so I could run the same mags and ammo from my glock 19/34 and 23 in the carbines. Liked the idea quite a bit. Alas... had to let them go as I am going overseas soon and need money for the trip, and everything that goes boom has to stay behind for 2 years.
