First up is a Ritual/Sacrificial looking Dagger that a Client sent me, this was one of the first blades i ever made several years back and needless to say, it was in pretty sempriniesque condition and it really humbled me to see where i came from, the edges were unevenly ground, the blade was covered in scratches, grip scales were mishapen and didnt sit flush with the tang, blade wasn't even sharp really. SO i worked it over 100% and brought it up to my current level of skill I gripped it with Buckeye Burl scales, stabilized, and added peened brass rivets to secure them in place, sharpened the edge, reground the profile, and just cleaned everything up to really look good.
Secondly, You guys saw some progress teasers on this a while back, this sword started out as a pretty badly neglected, and not overall that great to begin with discontinued windlass war sword. Its got a 40" blade and from the factory it weighed around 4.5 pounds with a negative POB. the grip was 1.75: wide and extremely thick and bulky, as well as loose and rattling on the tang. the guard, which was just a 1/2" thick chunk of steel rattled when swung, and the blade was covered in strands of rust. I stripped this sword down to the ground and redid everything myself, restored the polish, cleaned up the tang, built a new grip, peened the reground and lightened pommel, and added a new crossguard which i forged from the originally gigantic chunk of dead weight, the sword now weighs 3lb 8 oz with a 4.5 to 5" POB and handles like greased lightning for how gigantic it is. My goal with this sword was to duplicate the sword used in the movie Ironclad, the only thing i left out was the grip spacer because i did not want to add any needless weight and ruin the point of balance. I plan on etching a templar cross into the pommel in the future
Lastly, a Type X viking Im making for a customer, back from heat treat with Tom K and all cleaned up ready to hilt. This probably coulda went in the sword making thread, but for simplicities sake ill post it here with everything else.
