Curious. The discounts aren't super deep, but something to consider....

With the slight price reductions - nothing really jumps out to me.
The Windlass Naval Cutlass looks decent.

The only thing I don't like about these is they don't always tell you what the blem is just a "could be something like". For only a $20 to $30 savings why take the chance. Now that Tori Elite Katana is a $125 savings so that's a really good savings but is it also a really big blem. I have seen some where they would say what the actual problem was but they seem to be doing that less now. I guess it could be they have more than one of that model with different blems.

Its also some of them are out of stock/oop, so its a good chance to maybe pick up some leftover stock? I know the CS 1904 and the US ANXI sabre are out, so you can look at it as saving some money AND waiting time.
I agree with you though, especially since they say the blemishes could "include, small surface scratches, scabbard dents or cracks". Dents or cracks in the scabbard seem like particularly big issues. especially if you only save $20-30 dollars

There is also discontinued KC Spatha available in factory seconds. Almost grabbed it but as USD is very strong against EUR it was too pricey for my taste as it.

Agree with Bill... most of these have a very small discount... so without knowing EXACTLY what the issue is, it would not be enough of a discount to get me excited.

You know what....looks like KOA actually has 2 separate pages of items that are not 100% fine. Not sure if this is new or I am just noticing it, but I think its new. Scratch and Dent. "This section contains items that did not quite meet with our quality standards but can not really be considered defective or "Blow Out" items. These factory blemished models will have small cosmetic defects but no issues that will effect it's function. Examples include, small surface scratches, scabbard dents or cracks, minor blade pitting, etc. Larger issues like blade chips, cracks, warps or anything else that will effect performance will not be included with these". www.kultofathena.com/blemished.aspThen there is the Damaged and Blowout "These items will typically have more significant issues than the ones in our Dent & Scratch - Blemished section or at least require more explanation". www.kultofathena.com/blowout.aspSo this makes a lot more sense than what I thought, which was I thought they just stopped giving detailed descriptions of the issue, they still do but only in the blowout section where there could be a pretty significant issue like a warped or bent blade, loose cross guard etc. The other section, and this would explain the not so deep discounts, are pretty minor issues and really only surface problems. Good job on KOA's part, it would be nice to exactly the blemish but I can understand why they don't want to go through the work on something that they are deeming quite small, and the discount I assume reflects that.

Then there is the Damaged and Blowout "These items will typically have more significant issues than the ones in our Dent & Scratch - Blemished section or at least require more explanation". I was considering purchasing one of the Blow-Out Hanwei Koi katana at quite a savings till I noticed they mark it as a second at the factory: "These swords are marked by Hanwei as a factory second by having small, round punch marks put onto the habaki and base of the blade." The habiki had a small hole punched into it and the hole on the blade didn't actually go through it, but was a divot in the top of the blade. The Shinto didn't appear to carry the seconds marks but both had saya that weren't up to par so I passed on them in favor of another as this was going to be my first real sword.

Sort of funny, in a way.... I manage to find PLENTY of defects in a good number of NON discounted swords.... :). So do I, and so do most experienced collectors I am sure. The difference here is... if I order it and it has defects... and those defects are such that I can not abide them, I can send it back. However if I order a blemished sword, having NO idea what the nature or extent of the defects might be... and it turns out they are more severe then I would like... I'm screwed, I can't send it back because I was warned the sword was defective. So... without knowing the exact nature of the defect... a 15-30 dollar discount is no where near enough to tempt me to buy a sword I will be stuck with no matter what.

Again though, it is a good place to find OOP/back orderd items if you are really in a hurry for something. It may also be enough of a discount to bring it down below a certain tax bracket.
Also, $20 or $30 may not seem much, but that does represent a 10-15% discount. If you put it in that context, its really not bad.

To each their own. I'm just saying if I'm interested in a sword.... a 15-30 dollar discount without knowing what the flaw is and no ability to return it if the flaw turns out to be something I really don't want to deal with... not remotely worth it for me.
