ccnati posted something in the beginners section inquiring about a rapier from strongblade. I had never seen this company before. However, I did not want to de-rail thread, so am posting here. Basically, does anyone know anything about this company? They apparently have a line of "battle ready" swords for suspiciously low amounts of money. Its also strange that you can get their swords in both tempered and un-tempered form - potentially good for someone who wants to learn to temper their own blades? Either way though, the low price makes me suspicious, but perhaps someone can tell us more....

As I'm thinking of buying from them, here's what I've gathered: they have great service... Their blades (their own designs) are OK as beginner blades, and are almost all screw pommels. Everything I've read has had satisfied customers, but the disclaimer that they may not be historically accurate/super high quality.

Get tempered version if you want functional. It costs more at about $20-$40 more depending on the blade you are getting. I have a few strong blades which include the crusader blade and the tristan sword. The blades at the time I bought mine didn't come with distal tapers. Which meant the handling from any of their blades was more blade heavy. They are well made and a good deal for their price otherwise.

My first two pieces were from Strongblade. I'd say save a little more coin & go with Windlass at the very least. They do have very good customer service, but the products leave much to be desired.

I got a cheap untempered gladius from them once. About what you'd expect for the price and I don't mean that in a bad way. That was before they started offering tempered blades.
I think they are a good option for cheaper blades. Windlass would be a step up.
