Game of SWORD has me at a loss for words. Best idea ever. Katana may not be the most ideal tools in this competition but if I ever do participate, I'll most likely use one of my huawei, I have doubts the Cas Liondog will see much action. Thanks for enlightening me to this beautiful world of backyard competition cutting.

No problem. The next round starts in a couple weeks. I can add you to the roster if you want to play.

I'd be honoured. Guess I better bottle up.... And wrap up. A particular tsuka needs some attention. Time to make her pretty again.

i have absolutely no complains on my end, he said 15 days to make the blade and it was about it plus 15 days of shipping (which is about right with customs in the calculations) when i was wondering when it will be done i got it at my door lol so i hope you'll get it soon... really sucks when it takes a lot of time like this... I just made the connection to the double hi chokuto. A custom order like that coming through so soon is rather fortunate. Now that contact has been resurrected, Im optimistic my wait time may be similar. Thanks.

Unfortunately, there seems to be some turbulence with my Huawei order. Slightly over a month ago dialogue opened and Jacky said as soon as possible, my swords would be made for me. On the 20th of this month, I asked when it was likely to be complete, and proposed, if there was any problem that I be refunded so I could buy a sword from them through the ebay. The attached photo will show exactly what was said. Attachments:

Since I sent my mailing address, there has been no reply at all, I've sent a few messages, some in reply and the others I started as fresh lines of conversation.
What started off looking too easy just got complicated.
I really hope that they make good on their offer but after the halt in communication I'm beginning to wonder!

Out of all the emails I've sent him over the last couple years, I've gotten two, maybe three replies. Everybody rants and raves about them and how they are a "step above" so I really wanted a custom from them/him. However, the lack of response has put me off indefinitely. Even if their stuff is great, it's impossible to tell when you can't get one.

Jacky messaged me yesterday that he was now working from home...being a work-from-home Dad (so to help care for his very young baby boy). That yes, he was very busy...and asked me for patience re. my custom sword order. In light of the continuing relatively sparse sword inventory in his Ebay store, I have to think something is going on that is making things tough for him, but I do not know what. I would say, that this is not a time to ask for new custom sword orders, but to only buy his "completed and ready2ship" inventory, limited as it is. RinC

That's a shame. I have two small projects I've kind of wanted to get done by HuaWei for a while but I've always worried about this exact sort of problem...

I started a custom with them awhile back, but cancelled it when Aaron Justice contacted me to see if I knew of any other way if getting in touch with Jacky as he was not getting any responses. Aaron never did get a response, the two swords or his money back....

It certainly can be frustrating waiting for news about a custom order but as Robert has implied, sometimes it does have a lot to do with timing. I agree it can be a hassle but so far I have not found any other seller that can produce the same quality blades for the same price. Not one out of all the other ebay sellers I'm aware of even comes close. This is the only reason I choose to deal with these issues and I hope it gets better in the future. Hopefully it will all work out for you Shishi

Thanks. I'll do my best to work things out with Jacky. With luck we can both be happy with the outcome.

I got reply stating the sword would be 3-4 days. He asked me to please be patient. That I can do.
3-4 days though, I think he might mean 3-4 weeks. But regardless... if this all works out, I'd be super indebted to Jacky.
Huawei swords. They make it hard for me to look elsewhere.

How long does Huawei usually take to ship things out? I ordered an 'off the shelf' katana from them 5 days ago and it doesn't seem to have shipped yet.
EDIT: He seems to have re-listed the one I bought(I got the last one in stock), so I don't know what's happening.
EDIT: Never mind! It shipped.

Finally the day is upon me. This story is kind of complicated. I made a custom order from huawei for two 9260 katana with ko-kissaki. Simple enough to send the payment upfront, wait up to four months for swords made just for me. Unfortunately things didn't go that way. In fact after waiting 10 months I decided to try checking on the status of my order. Jacky said: "I am so sorry kept you waiting. We will finish your swords soon as possible" Not too bad, right? Order must not be lost, I was thinking. Well a little over a month from that with no word I started to think there must be a problem. I messaged Jacky with an ultimatum. Either keep trucking on my custom kats or they could refund me to pick something else up from Huawei such as "http://www.ebay.com/itm/271815332849". Not too long after I received a reply. Dear Friend, i am sorry.we haven't finished your custom swords . I would like to send you a sword like this: www.ebay.com/itm/271815332849So maybe I'm slightly disappointed that the custom job didn't work out, but at the same time excited that I'm getting a very nice piece in exchange. I send my address and phone number back and Jacky replies saying 3-4 days, please be patient. Week goes by. FINALLY the day is upon me.... I got a glip-gloppin' tracking number! Less than 10 days from the one year anniversary of when I made my payment. But that goes to show the absolute integrity of huawei. When they make a promise, they intend to keep it. If they can't, things can always be worked out so that both parties are pleased. I honestly am blown away by Jacky's patience with me, bugging him about a order I made so many months ago, and then picking a sword that wasn't in their ebay list anymore. I am impressed with how fast they came around to reconcile with my change of order. I can't believe that they did good by me after almost a full year. I bet many would say, "payment may 10, 2014? I see no payment may 10, 2014...." Huawei is a reliable, trustworthy, sword seller. Jacky is very kind and helpful if you give him a chance and maybe an extra little reminder here and there. It pays to always be polite, no matter what, too. I don't know if it's any cooler than the top prize of the favourite sword draw, but It might be close if I send the tsuka to Cottontail Customs! (Maybe after I wear the stock ito down some) I am feeling quite happy about this. I'll let yas know when the box comes to my door! Go, Jacky, Go!

It's great to hear that you will be getting something after all. That said, I wonder if your euphoria/relief isn't causing you to be a bit too generous in your praise of their business performance. There is no reason that you should be "blown away by Jacky's patience" with you. It should be the other way around. You are the customer. You paid the money, upfront, for a product that you never received, that was also promised within 1/3 of the time. I don't mean to be a downer here, but I for one would like all custom makers, whether American, Chinese, Japanese, or Martian, to be more accountable to their clients. The clients shouldn't have to chase down the maker for nearly a year after making payment. Let's raise the bar a little. Thanks for bearing with my little rant.

Hi Josh, Please remove those pics of your tsukas....I am drooling too much...getting front of shirt wet....can't find my kid's old bib. Robert
Hi Shishi, Wowser! LOVELY blade!!! Take it! Wow! Talk about serious eye candy! Nice! And yes, Jacky of Huawei is a nice guy...trying his best to keep quality up, even at the cost of getting snowed under and so pissing off customers. I am still awaiting my custom, ordered before Christmas 2014 (Dec). But I told him to talk his time. I have a Huawei katana and a Huawei waki...and they are my best modern swords, of steel probably better than my nihontos. After all, even the legendary Koa Isshin (Issin?) WWII swords were about 1050 skin steel and about 1020 core. Workmanship on a nihonto is generally better than a good modern, but the steel of the modern is probably better. The top modern only lack the hand fitting the nihontos had. The Huawei waki polish came out quite nice....very nice blade revealed. RinC

Euphoria isn't a bad description *hah* Perhaps Jacky's patience isn't what I should be blown away by. After a full year though, I was beginning to consider that money as lost for nothing after all there was little stopping him from claiming ignorance to the payment in May last year. What did blow me away was being proven wrong. Credit is certainly due there. You are right though. Jacky and I had an agreement that after having given 10 months, I had to track him down to find out what was going on. All this only to find that more time was needed. Some of my messages were not responded to for a time. That's not so great. A fine test of patience on my end. When it was running low I suggested the alternative of a specific sword and Jacky jumped on that. He sent it to me after a week. Truth is the sword he sent had a price tag $31 dollars higher than both my custom requests put together with shipping so I see that as a slight compensation for my wait as well. Jacky had apologized for keeping me waiting. I accept, that I do.
