Hi all,
I am thinking of these two swords as something I may potentially buy for myself but I am wondering what the practical differences are between the VA Valor and VA Malatesta with the recent Malatesta blade change.
I think that the Malatesta uses stainless steel fittings, while the Valor does not, but aside from this I can't see much of a difference.
Cheers, William

As far as I can remember (at work, so don't have access to my Malatesta), the fittings on it are made out of mild steel, not SS... I'll check after work and report back when I get a chance.

The current incarnation of the Malatesta does use the same blade as the Valor but can still be ordered with many different blades through the Custom Sword Shoppe. The Fittings on the Valor are mild steel and the fittings on the Malatesta are Stainless. While looking at just the swords themselves they are very similar I always view these in their complete packages. Looking at them that way, they are much more different from each other. I would like to note that starting with the next run of swords from the forge the fittings on the Malatesta will be mild steel also. Sonny

Thank you Sonny for the reply! I think I will wait until the Malatesta fittings come in mild steel, which although it won't have the shine that ss does, It would be more flexible should I wish to blue it later on. Edit: and you too LG

Some shots I just took. Lighting is crap since it's night time and my light bulbs are 15 watts. The Peen is pretty nice I think. The camera doesn't show it but there's some black burn marks from the torch that makes it obviously look hand worked so I left it alone. The Rain flaps on the Scabbard is visible in both pics, they are pretty good but with guard's sharp angles and edges there's a tiny bit of wear in the scabbard throat but it's pretty broken in by now so fits great.
