It's certainly in the top, but I don't know if it's my favorite. There are a few that I like just as much at least.
I requested the baron because there are already some videos of the knight available, so it won't really be much new where as the baron hasn't been video'd yet. And based on what I've deduced rom other owners as well as knowledge of the type of sworrd, that thing will be one vastly different sword than the crecy.

At almost 38 inches, it's not that little .

Thanks, Luke. It really is a fine blade.
Cold, it is actually the shortest sword I have, not counting gladii. I was looking for a good one hander and this one more than fits the bill.
I just noticed what a mouthbreather I am in the vid.LOL

I've never seen this before in any of your other cutting vids, but with the Albion, you have a suttle mythical glow about you in the video.

Very nice, Ricardo! And yes, you are definitely "glowing" in that vid. It looks like you're leaving lots of bottom halfs on the stand and are getting to be a "Pickle Chip Master" on those milk jugs. Bravo!

ShooterMike I'm really impressed that you sharpened an Albion! I'd be too scared to touch something so expensive.
A question about that though, if you don't mind... did you feel the Crecy was usable straight out of the box or did it really need some work? How much difference do you feel the sharpening has made?
Thanks!

My Poitiers cuts paper very easily, tho I did have to take it out of the box myself.

Thanks! I guess I see them as just swords, not "uber expensive scary touchies" and such. I bought all mine on the used market and none were exactly new when I got them. And I have sharpened most of them from time to time. That's just a must for me. The Crecy had probably been owned by several folks before I got it, and it was very dull... almost like an unsharpened Windlass. So it wouldn't cut worth beans before I at least got a decent sword edge on it. The Knight , on the other hand, was paper-cutting sharp when I got it and I haven't had to do anything to it.

I picked up a 2nd hand Albion Prince a while back, just after Brian @ DBK got his. We PM'd a bit about the design before mine came in. Brian's feedback was a little negative regarding the size of the grip. After it arrived, I agreed with his assessment. So I cleaned it up and sharpened it (on arrival it was in pretty bad shape and dull). Then I hung it on the wall and pretty much neglected it, thinking I would sell it when I got a good offer.
But now that I am trying to learn how to cut again after a long bout with various injuries, I decided to take the Prince out for a try, since it's one of the lightest swords I own.
I had three tatami mats rolled and soaked, so I figured "What the heck. Try it out." I'm really glad I did. It performed well beyond my expectations, especially since I haven't cut with a single-hander in what feels like forever. I'm keepin' it!

Great sword Mike. And as usual - great cutting !! I do enjoy your videos. Now I think I'll go drag out my Pink Panther VHS collection and watch a little Inspector Clouseau.

Outstanding cutting, Mike. A fine looking sword also, I was considering that one last Christmas. What was the issue with the grip size? Karma for you, Master.

Thanks Alvin and Rick.
Brian and I both thought the grip was too small in both length and diameter. The diameter fits for us both with gloves or gauntlets, which is how a Type XVI is designed to be used. But bare-handed it feels very small and that's mostly how I use swords.
The grip is only 3.75 inches long so it crowds my hand against the guard and the pommel at the same time. Initially, I didn't like the way this felt. But after cutting with it I completely changed my understanding of the function of the short grip. It really secures the sword in hand with only light grip pressure.
