Hi all,
So after 5 months of waiting the XIV sword at MRL is now back in stock and I have one now on order. I am going to ask for their sharpening service but the only talk about their skill is years old. Have any of you had any recent experience with their sharpening service?
Many thanks, William

As you already know, it will come with a small secondary bevel. They do a decent job on the sharpening and I have found it to be about on par with KOA.

Well I have only heard good things about Kult's service, so I am confident MRL will do a decent job. I am not so worried about the secondary bevel as I am going to do a "melt job" on the sword and maybe restyle the guard.

Hot and cold on MRL's sharpening work. I have no complaints with the sharpening, butI got two blades from them that were all scratched up in the process. 'course once you get it in the mail they disown a sharpened piece. It's been a while since I've seen this happen, but it caused me to let KoA get me the sword from MRL and get it done in Chicago.

Mmm, the problem with buying from MRL is that compared to the value of the sword, the postage/tax/customs charges are really quite high so it would be cost probative to send the sword back. Fingers crossed I get a decent one!

I ordered a sharpened sword from them a few weeks ago and it was a decent job. Like William said, there's a small secondary bevel but the edge is paper cutting sharp. In fact, the blade slightly slipped on me while I was test fitting a custom scabbard build and cut my pinky pretty damn good.
Blood sweat and more blood, hahaha.
