I know that DSA elicits strong feelings around this forum. But so far i have had good experiences with ones I have purchased through KOA. So I have ordered a new Wolfsbane. I received an email that the sword shipped today. So I thought I would share this with the forum. I have read that there is some interest in this new sword , and since I liked it since I first saw its photo. Unfortunatly i am unable to take or post photos at this time so i will have to use my words. So if anyones interested I will post more when it arrives. Also I will mention this first off, I was very pleased but surprised by the fact that it was shipped out so quickley since I only placed my order on friday the 12th of sept. So I guess that means they have caught up on its backlog and have new ones in stock. Also for information I ordered it unsharpened and without the belt. Not only did their sword costs increase but the additional cost of $185 for the belt and sharpening were a little excessive, given their reputation in regards to sharpening and a $100 for a belt when I can make my own, I am quite experienced with leatherworking. More upon its arrival.

That was a good call... the overall quality of their swords have improved in recent years... but sadly the quality of their sharpening service has NOT. The edge they put on their swords is not good at all. I'm interested in seeing pics and hearing your impressions of this sword.

OK folks this is just a small preview of the upcoming review of this sword. It arrived today, wed the 25. So it took ten days shipping from DSA to Deer Lodge Mt. First thing I have to mention the sword was shipped with a rubber tip cover, and the tip went through it so it was quite deformed for the first 1/4 inch. Very disappointed about that, but I was able to remove most of it with a wooden mallet and block but its still not perfect but to send it back seems pointless, sorry no pun intended, since it might return the same way unless they change the way they ship them. And I am going to notify DSA about this problem. But after the that, and like I said this is just a preview until my days off when I can do a full review. First of for an unsharpened sword it is very sharp and the distal taper is very evident. So my first mental response was "Wow what an amazing blade, then a not so wow what about that bronze work, then there is the red oak wooden grip, this wood is not leather covered and is rather rough and I must admit it appears as if one could easily get splinters, but once again I have to say wow that blade is amazing, sharp. highly polished and on par with any of my others, and I own Atrims and VA's and other DSA's. So that's all I have time for now I hope I've piquid your interest. Please check back next Tues or weds for my full review.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this. I'd complain to DSA about the tip, LOUDLY. The sword arrived damaged, and the tip is now stressed and will probably crack with any use. Not good times.

Definitely looking forward to a full review. It's interesting that you thought the bronzework was sub-par seeing as that is the main draw for the sword.

I certainly was disappointed about the tip and prefer it to be fixed correctly but I'm inclined to think that they would do the same thing I did to fix it and that would still require return shipping and then shipment back to me and then the risk of the same thing happening again. And as far as the bronze work it is not as good as they show in their sale's pictures. But that blade is like nothing they have done up to this point. I think that it will change a lot of opinions about their blades. But I will leave that and the rest for when I can do the full review. I am waiting until I can use a real computer so I may download picture and all with the reveiw.

I wouldn't want them to hammer the tip flat again either. It's a $700 sword. I personally would be sending it back not for a repair but for a replacement.

I agree and if I did not like the bronze work very much, I would just get a refund.

I did want to mention that I did send the an email about the damage to the sword yesterday after it arrived and again today Thursday. But no response as of yet. I did not demand a return in yesterdays email, but I am considering it. The thought that the damage is always going to be on the tip is bothering me. So in today's email I asked what they would do for me so I am waiting for their response. As for the bronze work. I did not mean to give the imprresion that I didn't like it. Its just that there are some finishing details that were missed on it. I intend to keep one of them. The a question now is will they follow through on their customer service in regards to the damage done in shipping. I intend to keep this thread going and do a review on this sword and customer service I think should also be part of a review if it is applicable to the purchase of said sword. So I will continue to update this thread as I go because it seems that plenty of you folks are interested in this. So please come back for the updates and the promised reveiw. Now a question for the mediator or admin, when I do the review should I post it on this thread or in the sword review section.
