No the wax model is exquisite and you give me a lot of hope that I might finally be able to afford a beautiful chinese jian and hopefully a shaungshou when you get around to them. Those fittings kick arse and you are doing us all an amazing service by getting these swords made. I don't know about the rest of the guys but I will not only thankyou for all of this I will definitely be purchasing a few at some point in the not so distant future. The workers are doing a breath taking job, which makes me wonder why do your weapons and fittings look so beautiful and your blades so affordable and yet hanwei are not producing anything even close to this? I mean they have the money and the influence right? Agree! I will find them checks! They have to be some where in my house. I remember cleaning up and putting everything in my dry sink, so I'll look there....again.

Garrett those Dao fittings look great simple yet elegant at the same time, I can already picture myself with one. How long before you get things up and running? I am really looking faward to getting one in the not so distant future, good luck.

thx musashi I'll need that luck.
January will be a busy month for me. I will be getting the prototypes in shortly. When I get them I will be running around town going to all the Chinese martial art places and seeing if they will buy any. Chinese swords need aggressive marketing because of the funny situation they are in. At the same time I will be taking preorders.
Once I'm done around town I will get the forge to start production. That could take a month or 2 after which they will come to me by ship (another month). But for those who are impatient, I can arrange for the manufacturer to ship directly to the customer.
In summary, you can expect to be placing orders in one month and receiving them in another month or 2. That's for monosteel swords. Custom orders will be available right after I inspect the swords.

FANTASTIC.
Jeez, I don't know which I'll want first. I love the inlay of the dao fittings, but the intricacies of the jian hardware are amazing.
Guess I'll just have to get both. ;D
Just say when, and I'm on board.
Peace.

*gibbers insanely whilst drooling everywhere*
Egads man! Stop making things so beautiful, I will be living in a box with several pretty shiny things at this rate!
Absolutely stunning, absolutely stunning!
I am just speechless mate, if the blade looks as good it will be amazing. I am stunned that you can sell them for mids 200s, they look better than anything available from any company, I think you will make a killing provided everything is this quality. When do we see an assembled one?

Not my type, but beautiful nonetheless.
I've followed this thread quite a bit, but I doubt I'll buy - nothing against you, I'm just interested elsewhere. However, I AM very enthusiastic about seeing these in their completion and I wish you much luck!

you'll see a mounted model soon, depends how fast the shipping from China is. I am stunned that you can sell them for mids 200s, they look better than anything available from any company because there isn't much of a market for Chinese swords. Lack of education regarding Chinese swords, and a lot of people are willing to accept low quality swordlike object crap. Kind of like the early European sword market. I mean the first book on Chinese swords only came out in June, 2007 and it's in Chinese... The market is not like the Japanese one where customers come knocking at your door. For the past century "China" has not exactly meant quality either. You have to know your stuff and get out there and work for it. I just happen to know more about swords than the average wushu practitioner and am willing to take the risk. I believe in it though because the Japanese were making crappy cars only 30 years ago and now they have a decent reputation. thx Rammstein, no problem I don't expect to have everyone interested...even the katana doesn't have 100% interest.

We won't find trace elements of lead in these swords, now will we ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ?

Garrett: you are doing a great service for those of us who don't like crappy wushu steel but don't have enough experience with chinese manufacturers to be able to pick the good ones. As you said for years china has made itself synonymous with producing crap, which is unfortunate because just like anywhere else china must have some really amazing smiths and guys who know what they are doing and do it well, like the foundry you are working with on these swords. Will we see any production twist core swords from you do you think?

@ Rammstein. didn't you know forging lead with the steel and folding it 100000 times will make it a lightsaber? lol naw they'll be fine. After all I'd be at serious risk of lead poisoning since I will be around quite a few of them.
@ bloodwraith you might see the lowest sanmai option or the single row twistcore become a production item, but it won't be for a bit and it also depends how things go. After all I could crash and burn and become no more.

garrett: here's hoping you don't crash and burn and that your business is a huge success, for no other reason than that i might be able to get a shuangshoujian ![:P](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Kidding of course ![:)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I like wacky, matches my personality ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Besides a shuangshoujian was at least for a brief period of time used on the battlefield, it is a two handed jian. Well if he can somehow get Scott Roddell to endorse him he would do very well indeed.

nothing wacky about a shuang shou jian. It's basically just a Chinese longsword.
Scott Rodell has signed a contract with Hanwei so I don't know if there might be a conflict of interest there.
