I've hit myself a number of times when playing (yes, playing, I neither train nor practice any art, I merely "play" with one idea or another, but in a manner that would not typically present any greater danger than a genuine training practice) with my swords. Once I misjudged my footing and shaved a few layers of skin off one calf with my PK. Whoops. Another time I was messing around with another sword, misjudged its weight slightly (just got done with a different sword) and whacked myself in the forehead with the mune (damn glad it was a katana, on that note) enough to draw blood. Several times I've caught myself in the head with one or another tsuba, and the guards on my Marshall don't get along well with my shoulders sometimes. I consider it all a part of getting acquainted with the handling of each individual sword. I also had bought several sharp blades prior to buying my first boken. I told the guy I bought them from this and asked "did I do it wrong?" We shared a laugh and that was it. I don't necessarily see skipping blunts as a bad thing, as long as one remembers what they're dealing with. I'm pretty sure if I'd started out on blunts, my mistakes and injuries would have been worse; not to mention damage to surrounding properties. Anyway, what's the latest on the shipment of your goodies, Garret? Have you finalized what you'll be stocking yet?

I also had an unfortunate "run in" with one of my swords once. It wasn't pretty.
I just got word that the dao is on the way. It'll be here in a week or less. After I get a look at it and finalize all the accounting. I will be taking names down. And Makadona I'll have to talk to a parent/guardian regarding your sword purchase since you're under 18.
I will be carrying 2 jian models, 2 dao models, and a da dao. I have a request from a kung fu school for butterfly knives and polearms so I may have a few left over from that as well.

Ooh, I'm not particularly interested in butterfly knives, but what sort of polearms? Some of the Chinese polearms I've seen are quite lovely things and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a few.

Of course, my mom actually wants to look over your stuff before hand because, she's, well, a mom. Also, I think I'm going to get a dao instead of a jian since Chuan Fa Kung Fu uses them and not jians.

sounds like a good mother to me.
aw that's too bad. While the dao is the dominant military weapon. The jian is the pinnacle of refinement.

I know that the jian is "The gentlemen of weapons", but I won't be learning any forms with it. Besides the dao, I'll probably get some butterfly knives and a spear from you once I get more money.

garrettc, May I know the blade and overall length of this sword? Is this the one you mentioned going out at high-200? Also, can you provide some close-ups at the point with the blade a little drawn from the scabbard? Does the guard houses the scabbard throat or something? Thanks in advance... Jian mounted...The only change I will make is that I will antique the fittings. They are too "gold" for my liking, but I'll let the pics do the talking...

Thanks vyapada but I don't classify the stuff as beaters. Too beautiful. I will be releasing 2 lengths. One with a 29.5" (75 cm) blade length and one with a 27.5" (70 cm) blade length (measured from where the blade meets the guard). Overall lengths are 39" (99 cm) and 37" (94 cm) respectively. Yes the guard fits over the throat here's a pic of it but different sword.

Thanks, Garrett... I'm keen, but I do not check this site frequently & the thread's bookmark seems to died on me whenever I'm least expecting it, so pls drop me a PM or email whenever you are ready to take orders from us, so I won't miss the boat Cheers..

Thanks vyapada but I don't classify the stuff as beaters. Too beautiful. Indeed, but they also seem to be quite durable!

Very durable. I am glad that your making these weapons, and that I won't have to pay shipping fees for them either. I may ask for more weapon types as I expand my knowledge of Kung Fu.

Put me down for the forth sword from the top with the wrapped tan ( would prefer dark brown or black) handle. The one with the curved saber style blade.

That's a golden yellow wrap Hold your horses Mak. I haven't even put swords out yet and I'm getting requests for all sorts of things already. By the way my dao will probably be in sometime this week. Let me know when I can show your mom that I'm an honest to goodness person with good swords to sell. I am also happy to say that Zheng Wu fittings are accessible to me.

You know, I have been looking for a decent jian forever and a half so I'm glad to see you on board...I just have a few (only 4)swords I need to order first (unfortunately at least one of those is an albion...possibly 2...if it isn't an albion it's gonna be an A&A...so I'm gonna be poor for a very long while). But the best of luck...it's great to see somebody bring some really nice chinese weapons in this price range. Have karma...it's good for you .

Do you set up for paypal? Can you post pictures of the 2 dao model ? I still want to get the Da Doa first.
