I like the A&A Town Guard Sword very much. I recently picked up the Windlass version to see if I liked that type and the answer is yes.
Sempach Sword with Blue Grip is also interesting.
ATrim looks good except I am not a fan of the ricasso on that particular model.

I was really shocked to see that there. Its listed as a nut assembly but unless I'm mistaken I see a mechanical peen in the pictures. The price is where Atrims should have been for the last 5 years or so, but that's a whole other discussion. I don't expect it to last the week.

Yeah I had my eye on that. Very appealing. Unfortunately I don't have the funds for it now and I doubt it will be there for much longer :-(

What exactly is the problem with a ricasso? Something historical or wrong? Just asking friendly!

Just on own personal preference. The blade is not very wide and does not weight very much. Just does not look right to me. I would like it a couple inches shorter without the ricasso.

It looks a bit like the old 1505 model, the Swedish bastard

So this is a single, hand made sword, not a production model? In other words, there is only one of these?

I'm with ya Bill. I'm not digging the ricasso either. Tom mentioned KOA will have more atrims coming.

Well....yes and no. It depends on your definition of hand made. The sword is made using stock removal on a CNC machine, the same way Albion's are made. Its not a one off, but given the frequency we see aTrims available (which is almost never nowadays) its a rare bird, though it being rare wasn't the intent of the maker.

The town guard is gone, but the Atrim and Albion Sempach remain.

I was seriously eyeing that Town Guard sword, but someone jumped on it before I could make up my mind.

Was it a A&A town guard? I've been after one for a while. And how much did it go for?

Very cool to see ATrims at KOA. I had just noticed a handful of his Tac Knives in the New Additions, but didn't see this sword till I found this thread. It looks a bit like a 1592 with the ricasso/blade flare of a 1506.

Gus will be selling swords on KOA more often in the future.
on the assembly: a mechanical peen is a nut, just a permanent one that looks more like a traditional hot peen than other nuts. it is designed to mechanically lock in place more firmly than an ordinary nut would and we put thread locker in there just to be sure. so yes, it's a nut but it is also a permanent peen done mechanically. both terms are correct.
I do believe that is one of Gus' previous models but he touched it up to meet newer standards so while it is basically the same as one of the older models it is a much higher quality finished product. does this make it new or unique? honestly I'm not sure. I'd probably say no not really but I'd not argue the point.

Bill if you buy a town guard and don't like it. I'd buy it from you.

I'd sure like to snag that Sempach. I've owned that and the Landgraf before. I like the aesthetic of the Landgraf but the Sempach is a better handling sword. There's a video somewhere of me cutting pumpkins with mine. Its a good cutter against medium to hard targets but is completely unforgiving of bad edge alignment, more so than other thrust oriented types. From a collectors standpoint the blade is very interesting.
I've flirted with that Town Guard sword before. Its always been a toss up between that and the Dresden Rapier. If you get one and sell out of the Windlass please let me know and I'll try and scratch up the change to buy it off you.
