So it seems they finally released a screen accurate version of eddards sword ice. the description says its full tang with a 1060 carbon steel blade. does anyone own one o these? im pondering on the functinality of such a thing, and wondering if anyone has dissassembled one. www.valyriansteel.com/shop/Game- ... od_27.html

looks terribly overweight, and KoA has listed it as being unfit for battle. It's the right steel so it might be possible to regrind, normalise, quench and heat treat it again? Anyway who cares when you can make your own right?

I think that's actually been out for some time; I remember it coming out before their Robb Stark sword. If it's anything like that one, it probably has a full tang, but I wouldn't count on it actually being functional. I may be misremembering, but I remember reading somewhere that while the RS had a full tang, there was something wrong with the temper or something else that prevented it from being truly functional.

I wouldn't count on anything from that company being remotely functional. I'm so totally disappointed that they have the rights to the swords... :-(

I'm just gonna have Ernie do a version. I just have to wait till he can do super large blades.

I had no idea Ernie did blades. That opens up a whole new world of possibilities. I was thinking of having Fable blades do a version, but I may change my mind and ask him to do Oathkeepr instead. I have a few months till I graduate so by then I'll have it sorted out.

Would that be an HBO Oathkeeper you have in mind or are you going to do your own design?

[/quote] I talked to brenno and Ernie about doing needle too. Brenno would do it with a classic diamond shaped blade but Ernie will do the version from the series.

I think I'd go with a design based on the books, but with the caveat that the proportions be adjusted to make a good handling sword out of it. I'm no designer so I think I'd set some parameters and let Brendan do what he does best.
