Can I get info and opinions on this machete/cleaver type blade from TFW? I've been lookin' and am hard pressed to decide.

What about abuse? Is it as much a machete as it is a sword.

I can't say as to abuse... I don't abuse my swords typically. All I ever cut with it was bottles... some pretty big ones which can mess up a blade pretty bad when full of water or if you hit the plastic rim... but the Panabas never took any damage.

As far as a panabas goes, I don't think I've ever seen a single-edged one sharpened on the inside of the curve; they're generally sharp on the outside of the curve. (Though some are double-edged, or one-and-a-half edged, with half the inside of the curve sharpened.) Maybe it's just the photos of it, but it looks to have a much more prominent bevel than antique panabas usually have, so a less acute edge angle. Which would make it more robust and abuse-withstanding, but not as good for cutting. This is more like a talibong on a stick than a typical panabas. (Maybe there are antique panabas like this, but I haven't seen them.)
Just looking at it by itself, not comparing with antiques, it's light, looks handy, and both it and the maker have good reputations. Looking at the bevel on the edge and the blade thickness (5.4mm to 3mm), it isn't something I'd describe as a machete or cleaver. I don't think the long grip lets the blade shape give the same benefits that it could with a one handed grip. But it should work, cut stuff up, and all that.
