I recently was customizing my grip for the longsword and found that I stupidly stripped the hex nut. Does anyone know where I could buy more of these hex nuts or even what their proper name is? Thanks you.

I think you can find them at sport fencing stores. That's were I found extra hex nuts for my Tinker longsword. The hex nuts I bought were too thick to fit inside the pommel. I had to modify the pommel a bit in order to make it work.

The only issue is that I have parts made by Ernie at Yeshua's swords and couldn't imagine modifying his work.

I don't think all hex nuts bought from fencing supply stores are like the ones I got. If you buy a hex nut and it turns out to be too thick, you might be able to modify the nut instead of the pommel. Works best if you have access to a lathe.

Yeah, modifying the nut would be the way to go. Lathe wouldn't even be needed. A belt grinder and a constant rotation would do just as well. Even failing that, you could file it down by hand, no power tools necessary.
However, I've had little success in finding a replacement nut. I'm surprised that more places don't offer them, and I've been thinking about buying a tap/die set and making some custom replacement nuts. I would likely have to go with a flat head assembly... But sorry, I don't know of any other place to get those

I sent you a pm sanmarc; thanks for the link Bryan. If Ernie sells them too I might buy a ton of those little things.

Indeed they are, I have one of Ernie's hex-nuts on my H/T EMSHS. Harder metal.

How does one go about ordering these hex nuts from Ernie?

I remember going through all this a while back when I lost my HT EMSHS hex nut. I lucked out and a vendor had a spare which he sold me for six whole dollars. I was damn grateful to get it, let me tell ya.
So Ernie can make 'em? Not surprised, really. His reputation precedes him. Any info on HT nuts is like gold, I think. The more sources the better.
I'd love to see this stickied.

Well, in my case, he was making a new pommel for my H/T. I tried to save on shipping costs by sending him the existing pommel for measurements, rather than the whole sword. When he sent me the new pommel and I tightened it on, the stock hex-nut stripped out. At that point I sent him the whole sword, as I thought the tang threads were stripped. He advised me that it was the nut, and that he could easily fix it with a nut of harder material. I think he makes them, but I'm not 100% sure. Nevertheless, my sword is as tight as can be after Ernie worked on it. He really can fix pretty much ANYTHING...

I had the oppurtunity to go to his shop and meet him and see all the crazy creations he's got going on. Not only is he a genuinely nice guy, he's amazing with metal. Some of the things lying around he was working on we're remarkable. Not really contributing to the original topic just wanted to chime in and say the mans got talent.
