HEavy Metal Anarchy indeed.
The English Two Hander I just looked at again yesterday. I compared it to some pictures of the original... it is good enough. I question if the ecussons should be floating there so far above the blade. Not a big deal. I am a bit surprised how well it has been received by that HEMA guy, however, it is a good design. The lack of distal taper could be made up for by the tapering width of the blade.
I want one so I don't tear up my $1K A&A greatsword. The Windlass piece is only a couple of inches shorter.
Hmmm... Maybe I'll stop work and go outside and play. I've haven't solo practice in two days....

Quote: Beowulf: I question if the ecussons should be floating there so far above the blade. Did you inhale illigal substances? You lost me here, and there too. What are ,,ecussons''. Do they have great big teeth? Somebody help this poor man! About the E TH: Told you so. Quote: Beowulf: It's a good sword Ulahn! Like I said, don't fight large drunken German mercenaries armed with Grossemesser. It will be fine Yeah, but I will not! You are talking about the G HaH here I think? If so, I am very pleased with it, design flaws and all. It just feels good, if that is saying something, much nicer to handle than Hanwei's German Bastard, the big one. The latter I think will tire one out much sooner. Let's say it this way: the G HaH is part of me, The Hanwei I stand in awe of.

AH,the little thingy under the guard! I was not aware it had a name. There is one picture of the hilt floating around on the net. From the Wallace Collection I believe. Anyway, the keepers of the estate, or how they are called, would do me darn great favour if they would replace the old images. The pictures are too old, badly lighted by our standards, very grainy and should be replaced with full HD digital ones. Bet they wont. Thanks for the explanation. The Windlass ecussons are not that badly done, I think. Could take a file to it anyway to give it some fizz. Think the guard is a cast, so the lines could be soft, compaired to the original. It is good to have self professed ,,wonky'' people around. They might do interesting things and may have interesting thoughts. Edit: Wallace collection: Obviously I was referring to the pictures in print.

Baldricks and hangers. Hangers, there are some very fancy ones about, real artwork. Looks like the military had much simpler ones. Patric Gaul is into leatherwork or pictures. I dunno. Has some nice things to show though. Here is his ,,build your own'' baldric: plus.google.com/photos/11248558 ... 0980470817 Here are some hangers: plus.google.com/photos/11248558 ... 9600539633 Heaps of hardware: plus.google.com/photos/11248558 ... 5325123046 Had a look around at the baldrics. Conclusion: leather quality is hard to fatom from a monitor, MRL's are nicely priced but look plasticy, buckles could be those hollow pressed metal affairs on some I saw. Lots of catering to the Steampunk and Renfair market. This one could do it, in natural finish. And I do not have to pay much postage: www.celticwebmerchant.eu/a-28129 ... ur-de-lys/ Lutel has them and I bet Dave's is of good quality. Here is a thread on myArmoury about it: www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=11426Tod's stuff is very nice and a pleasure to look at, but to combine his work with a Hanwei rapier? Naw, don't think so. So, I am looking for a simple one, natural leather, cause it ages better, good buckles on it, or to be fitted aftermarket, six straps. should be easy...

Natural leather, yes, and vegetable tanned! Chrome tanned leather can corrode high carbon steel on extended contact. Lutel makes pretty nice stuff for a very reasonable price, as long as you deal with their real site ( www.lutel-handicraft.com) and not the impostor.
