Ah, variety; ain't it grand? Though I think I'd rather have $275 than anything $275 might get me at this point... That's almost 1% of that kilij.

Our customers should be happy I can't physically reach through a phone line or I would be using them as cutting targets. Now somebody bring back on the sword pr0n.

With pleasure, Liam, even if it's not technically a sword. Art of Swords, the tumblr responsible for the shashka I posted on the previous page, just added this gorgeous late-19th century Indian khanjar:

I love it - pardon me but I must away over to tumblr. I've been following that blog for a while but hadn't checked it today.

Threaomancy time~ This jambiya popped up on Art of Swords this morning; it's 18th century and, at first, I thought it was a ceremonial or decorative piece made out of solid gold, but in reality, it's just so inlaid with koftgari that you can barely tell the difference: Whoever owned this must have been obscenely rich.

I'm not much into jambiya, but wow, that's fancy.

Don't mean to one-up you, Random, but I came across this rapier on Art of Swords earlier today and your post reminded me of it: And a closeup of the pommel: According to AoS, the hilt is encrusted and overlaid with silver and gold; the blade was made in Solingen in the early 17th century, while the rapier as a whole was purchased by George IV prior to 1806 when he was Prince of Wales.

That's a different kind of gaudy. Neat, though.
